I live in Guiseley and have been aware that this young lad was signed last Autumn by Guiseley and has been playing up front for them since then.
I read during the winter that teams like Blackburn were keeping tabs on his progress.
Last night I watched England schools U18s against Scotland as I am always keen to see young Scottish prospects coming through.
I was delighted to be able to see Josh playing centre forward as I had never seen him play.
The boy is physically a copy of a young Wayne Rooney at the same age and although not fully grown he is physically intimidating at U18 level
The lad ran the game and scored 2 goals and hit the post as England ran out easy winners.
This lad is Premiership quality as a footballer. He is a natural player and as Rooney was at his age reads the game as a 30 year old.
He is good in the air and won most of the first balls against bigger defenders.
His work rate and closing down was non stop and his stamina levels clearly were above the levels of the other players.
He goes to or went to Shipley College and lives locally.
He is not attached to any club Academy.
How have we missed such an obviously high quality player resident in our area and attached to a club we should know well.
Can our new manager rectify this situation and attract him to VP?
As a pupil at the right age and with right assets I am certain Mark Hughes would want this lad at the club to get him in the team and on through the pyramid as he becomes the finished article as a player.

If he's good enough and has the right application someone will pick him up. If he's at Guiseley theres a reason for that.

If he's so good why is he still at Guiseley?

All you can do Brackenrigg, is to inform the club and see what happens.
It's up to them to take it further, you would think though that we would have local scouts that should have picked him up?

Is this the lad that turned down Rangers & Sunderland to sign a 3 year deal with Wigan?

What a stupid thing to say. How old was Vardy at Halifax and Fleetwood?

How many footballers slip through the net like Vardy??

Are you saying we should sign him and hope he comes good in 8 years time?

No but I’m saying why are you writing off an 18 year old kid just because he plays for Guisley?
He’s clearly got talent. The fact Bradford don’t have him says a lot about where our club is at the moment.

The fact that the lad plays for a club with an LS post code and that premier league club within that post code don't have him, may say more about the lad tbf

Bradford City did have Josh in the Academy before Guiseley. He just did not adapt to Academy Football.

He had a bad injury, and it says a lot when Rangers and Sunderland were in for him too

    He's not. He's a Wigan Athletic player.

    Does this change your opinion?

Ian Wright was still playing on hackney marshes when he was about 23, some people just don't get picked up by clubs for a variety of reasons.
