Staunton was playing 'OK' in a shocking side. I'd have him on the bench ahead of FCD though, and definitely ahead of Kelleher. cover for CB, LB and possibly even as a holding mid. Unless he's involved here though, he needs a loan move or his development will stall.

 

I agree, it’s the only logic I can see behind Kelleher being on the bench over him that it’s better him playing at another club than say on our bench. He only really showed promise in a back 3, we don’t know what he’d be like in a back 4 maybe training had brought up some red flags in that department.

 

Adams saying the plan is for Scales and Staunton to go back out on loan. They've had offers, but not to clubs where the players want to go at this stage.

 

The lad looked a long way short of making it he needs to drop 2 or 3 divisions to find his level at the moment

Park, I can't understand how or why Staunton has fallen through the cracks. One of our best, ripe for development and should be in around the first team squad. Big up to Finn, he's done well. But for me, Staunton is the one young player we have who has bigger potential. His head is right, attitude good and alot of talent. He shouldn't be out on loan - regularly on the first team bench at the least. Sadly can't see that happening under Adams. The man don't like developing young players.

 

Or maybe Staunton isn't as good as you think he is?

The only time he's managed a run in the side, he was part of a team who were bottom of the league.

 

Problem is he needs 90 minutes under his belt each week to progress, being sat on the bench doesn't benefit the lad at all. And he's only going to get that by being out on loan.

 

Sadly could be true, City fans have an obsession with our youngsters but then demand instant promotion and success. Exeter have proven they are exclusive you can’t have it both ways, Parkinson knew that. Unless we got a fantastic talent well above his age then they just won’t be getting in the first team any time soon, anyone with that sort of talent like Greenwood is poached at a very young age though. Out of what we are left with considering all the clubs around us most just aren’t up to professional standards, even if one or two are they still need time to develop. Exeter have a big advantage that they don’t have Leeds and the Manchester clubs on their doorstep, even though they develop good talents however how long have they been stuck in league 2?
