stand out player of the match on Saturday for me. Against Wycombe thought he was also very good. So far, he looks a huge improvement to our back line together with the other additions.

What I like is Walker, Wright, Power, Cook/Humphry’s is a very decent spine. Add what we have down both sides, early indications are we have a competitive squad.

 

He doesn’t seem to be as good since he’s come back from injury and was subbed off at halftime on Saturday.

 

I hope that was for Joe's benifit as much as trying to turn the game around, anyone there could clearly see the mistake effected his confidence.

 

That was my thought exactly..Since the two week protocol ended he’s a different player and didn’t he get another clout in the half?

 

I’ve never known a defender go down with so many bangs to the head.

 

To be fair to him, he puts his head in front of anything so seems like a consequence. Did we underestimate Pennington’s presence in the back 3? This is not any criticism on Baldwin who I think has been mostly solid.

For what it’s worth in Wrights case, I think it’s simply a few games not quite the standard as the first few (of which is was excellent), and Saturday was overshadowed by the error. I’ve no long term concerns.

 

It's commendable that he's fearless, but the best defenders seem to avoid putting themselves in 40/60 situations and risk picking up injuries. Here's hoping he can return to his early season form sooner rather than later.
Totally agree about Pennington. He went about his business quietly, but calmly. He was seen running with Cooky and Richards at the training ground last Saturday morning, so hopefully he'll be back on Saturday. I'm guessing Wright might drop to the bench and Baldwin will take the centre position with Kelly on the left.

 

Baldwin center and Kelly LCB fills me with fear if I’m honest. I’d still feel more comfortable with Wright at CB despite last week.

Absolutely, I honestly don't know what's more grim. The thought of that defence or actually drinking Carlsberg!
