Why would you have someone in the squad who isn't a benefit to the first team in league 1??

 

For league 1?.. after an horrendous ACL injury?

12 months ago and sat third in league two would have been a yes to hopefully push over the line
We have evolved and the injury and age is against Cook I am afraid
He can go with his head held high, Been fantastic for this club and will be remembered so

Yes, Norwich paid initial fee of 250k for him. Reckon they will be looking for a loan, as he needs game time.

Did you not read my post? I said he's a good plan B, hence why I would always have him on the bench.

I think Cook moving on is the right thing to do. But it just doesn’t feel right that, having not been in the squads lately, we can’t even say goodbye. I know that sounds a bit soppy but he’s been fantastic for this football club and one of our top scorers in history. It doesnt feel right that he just moves on loan to Grimsby without a send off. He deserves better than that.

 

That’s fair however I was referring to two sentences not the one as in your example.

Humps issue is he has a habit for shooting too centrally in the goal. He wastes chances shooting straight at the keeper. Sounds simple, but look at his shot map for this season.




Compare that to a top L1 CF Salech.

 

So what would be the suggestion? I refuse to buy this put him on the bench and play him for the last 5 minutes malarky. If the injuries pile up in the game we are going to end up with the only option remaining which could be the wrong one .

Maybe a testimonial when he retires ? They used to be quite common back in the day. Not heard of one for an awful long time ?

 

Also Cook from last season below. Humps just isn't a natural finisher. Not even sure it's something you can coach at this point in his career. Some players have the finishing instinct, some don't.

 

Think I put the same shot map up a few weeks ago and it looked every similar. He's just not a finisher, he gets in positions but just has no killer instinct and it's not coachable at this stage for him either.

Just doesn’t feel like a fitting end to his career here when he carried the club for years.

He should have been called upon when Kavanagh was given gametime and, to a lesser extent, when the hapless Powell was used at certain times.

 

I don't think he was green light fit when Powell played.

 

Aye, Cook was only just coming back, and eased in gradually. Think there were a few games though when we turned to Powell, who was truly hopeless.

 

We have done fine for the last year without Cook so why do we need to replace him ?

 

We've scored 12 goals in the last 12 games.
