It's a shame but the writing has been on the wall with this one. Probably the best goal scorer the club has ever had in terms of goals per minutes for that amount of games and longevity?

Guessing it's a loan because of wages? Or they dont know if Cook has 18 months left in him given he's 35 and not played regularly for over a year now?

    Is it a loan?
These two sentences suggest firstly a number of clubs have been seeking a loan, the second refers to him “ signing” .

“The T&A understands that a number of League One and Two clubs have inquired about taking the 35-year-old on loan.

But it appears that the Mariners will win the race for Cook’s signature.”

    Hedging one’s bets journalism !!!

Absolutely imperative we replace Cook with an elite striker.

    Pressure will be on.

Halliday isnt gauranteed games. A few weeks ago we were all certain he would be off - we didnt see him for weeks. Out of contract in the summer and if a bid comes in that suits club and player I think he is disposable.

Has every chance IMO but wouldnt be surprised if he remains until the summer either.

Just wondering why you think there is no chance of Halliday leaving this month.

Out of contract in the summer, 2nd choice RWB here now, he is surely open to a move?

I am not saying I want him to move on, but to say no chance is pretty naive in my opinion

I agree. If a cash bid comes in we would be daft to say no all things consideted - he will have L2 interest for sure, maybe even lower end L1 interest. Neufville far more effective and I am glad he has regained his place for these big upcoming fixtures. When he is on it he offers far more than Brad.

Brad has been a great servant for us but like Pattison and Cook, his time is up IMO. We need to be ruthless and improve on what we have.

    Hands. Off. Snap. Their.

Rearrange those words to find what we should do.

    RE: Cook.

It is time. He's never been a good 'footballer' but he's been an amazing goalsxorer for us. However, in the 12 months since his injury we've moved on fairly substantially and he finds himself trying to get into a different team at the top of a higher league. A league he's played in for one season previously and dropped back down again. He's 35 and on the back of an ACL.

I desperately wanted him to reach 100 goals for us, it's an incredibly rare milestone and had he not got injured he'd have in all likelihood done it last season. But time waits for no man and sadly I think its the end of the road for him with us. I hope he's gets another 18-30 months out of his career, he certainly deserves it.

That was as much about our tactics and our lack of threat on the left side as it was about Neufville.

It was obvious teams were doubling up on him. We needed more threat from the left. Said it many times.

    This.
Cooky is still our best goalscorer IMO so it’s a huge risk especially given that our record of finding and signing them is so poor.
He might not be playing right now but then we’re hardly scoring lots of goals either.

They better have something lined up and do we think that they do given what it’s likely to cost?

We have consistently found a way to keep winning games in the 12 months Andy Cook hasnt been playing, so dont think its a big risk at all letting him go.

Cook hasn't been prolific for us in the last 12 months, so why is it a huge risk? He's hardly played. If this was Jan 25 I'd agree, but as we saw we didn't really miss him. We do however need a goalscorer to improve what we have at the moment. Unfortunately today's Cook isn't that man.

    Not for me.
We use the wages for a real quality 10.
When has this 3-4-2-1 formation we play, played to the strengths of the 9?
It's the reason why Cook isn't needed.
All our attacking play comes from high pressing 10s who can score goals and wing backs who can get up and down the pitch.
    Not an elite 9 goalscorer.
We can't have Kav playing as a 10 if Sarc or Pointon are out.
