I'd be sad to see him go although I could see Halliday going too, more down to the player if the right opportunity for him came along where he was a guaranteed starter on a longer contract rather than waiting for the bun fight for contracts in the summer. Neufville lost form but is back in the side , and as we saw at the start of the season, is a much better player on his day and scores goals, and that could mean limited future opportunities for Halliday.
There could conceivably be interest from a top end L2 club, although the club might not be open to him moving on unless we could secure a loanee for cover.

 

GA did say they have had enquiries about several first team squad members. So it’s not surprising about Halliday. He also hinted that some of the players we were after wanted championship clubs which we couldn’t compete with. Possible some of the players we are rumoured to be after

 

Could be that we've found a target early and are getting a great deal? Ashby looks out of contract on the summer and would fit L1 or CH. Halliday is more than likely leaving in the summer given his deal is up and he's a solid back up in the RWB role.

If it's true anyways. But I'm sure either Sparks or Sharpe has said before we have multiple lists for current and future windows, maybe Ashby was someone we wanted later but the chance is there now?

 

Carlisle fans were sure Halliday was joining them a couple of weeks ago.

 

Halliday best in a flat back four though in GA’s eyes. And, at 30, he is older and might not be happy rotating.

 

He’ll prob end up at Grimsby with Byrne and Cook. Walker, Staunton, Oduour and Vernam are already all there!

 

Town fan I know reckons they’re getting Jatta from Notts County.

Consider his attitude second half of last season. Reckon he will fit in nicely there.

only problem is its the TBs. Can’t see them loaning to a promotion rival.

wonder if a lower Championship club who is desperate might try a chancey loan to see if they can coax him back to form.

 

Yeh there’s no way that they’ll loan him to a fellow top end L1 side or “rival”. They paid £3m for him too.

It's been inevitable for a few weeks now and the best all round that he moves on sooner rather than later. I thought he might be able to get a permanent move with an 18 month deal so a bit surprised it will be a loan, presume wages are the issue.
Pity it has ended this way but football is harsh although he did make his last goal one to remember.
If I've read the new FA Cup rules right as well the cup tied rule has changed which would make him eligible to play for a 2nd club so with Grimsby getting through to the 4th round he could have a chance of making it 2 appearances at Newcastle if they get lucky with the draw.

 

With you on that about his last goal @Birky Bantam . He’s scored a lot of memorable goals for us in his time but I have a feeling that one at Newcastle will be his absolute favorite. Can’t think why….. Looks like we won’t get to wish him a fond farewell in person though. Bit of a shame but that’s the business I suppose.
