Metcalfe will probably be off if we remain in league 1.

Baldwin will get the 1 year option IMO. Decent age and has played an important part in our journey. Think Tyriek does aswell - GA likes him even if a squad member. Sarc is 50/50...age and injuries a worry. Lapslie and Kelly will be off. Evans playing for a deal like Crichlow last season.

4 of the 5 loans possible but depends on the impact they have between now and season end.

Doubt we see Wheatley back regardless.

 

If Wheatley fails to impress, playing in front of our 20,000 crowds, then i think he will be on the downward pathway, like the vast majority of these kids hoovered up by the big boys
Start at the top and work your way down, it should be the other way around.
We do need a centre half upgrade in my opinion and Baldwin is out of contract, so i supposed it depends on any possible replacements
I still struggle with Tyriek, his move to Plymouth looks to have drained him, but the cameo on Saturday and the finish , hopefully lifts his game, it certainly looked like a weight off his shoulders, that was his first goal in two years.

Who is Baldwins current deputy though? Pennington would need to move there from the centre. We only have 5 CBs on the books and Kelly will be off. Release him and bring in 2 of better quality - one an upgrade on Baldwin who then moves to back up. He plays the Byrne/Kelly role (but better than both).

I think all the centre haves could be upgraded if we are being honest
Baldwin and Kelly are out of contract, so if better replacements can be brought in, they are the easiest two to remove from the squad
Joe Wright, Tilt, Pennington, non are outstanding, just steady away.

 

Just hope it isn't a coincidence that both his goals in recent times have come against Donny, otherwise we're going to be in for a long wait for another one!

 

GA likes Kelly. If we don't go up I think we'll offer him another contract.

 

Im not convinced. He isnt making the squad atm and is clearly 5th choice. He only got a 1 year deal last time and took it because I bet he had no other offers.

 

Dont disagree but we already need 2 CBs in the summer. And with others surplus and 5 loans leaving its already a big rebuild needed. Players like Baldwin and T Wright then become valauble squad members and allow you to focus on more urgent positions.

Plus Neufville, Metcalfe and Bobby possibly have suitors.

Wasn't that because he had a bad injury in the last season? Anyway, we'll see . Hopefully we get promoted and we'll all agree, GA included, its probably a step too far for Ciaran.

 

I was in my local tonight and had to the pleasure of meeting Harry Clifton’s family. Great people! He almost signed for us last season but he was sold a better story of promotion by Donny. Contract is up at the end of the season and I could see him coming to us

 

I'd hope we can attract better than Harry Clifton.

 

Too right, the lads a grafter and not much more we already have far better. I hope our recruitment team don't do what we did years ago with Scunthorpe. Taking the best players from a team far worse than us and hoping it'll improve us, it was a total disaster. Donny are far below us for a reason.
