I really hope that we have a surprise signing of a serious quality striker option. Would make my January ;-)

It makes you wonder if we've been quiet all week, Alexander has said to the press nothing in the pipeline and then we drop a big signing tomorrow, which changes town's preparation. We can all but dream.

The club has too.. we have a real chance of getting promoted this season. If they just this window pass us by and we end up mid table they would be some fair and serious questions to be asked.

I think we lack raw pace in the side TW Can shift but can’t beat a man before falling over his feet and sarc just hasn’t got any pace other had Bobby , we need a powerful cam we do look lightweight at times

Probably. Been cynical rather than factual here, but is the insensitive that high for promotion from the top? The money it could cost Rupp to run a championship club, in a way I couldn’t blame him if he was happy to tread water in league 1. Likewise Sparks, if we are promoted and someone wants to buy us who knows if they’d want their own man as CEO. They’re pretty safe atm with us as a solid league 1 side, it could make them think twice when splashing the cash.

A good point. Tbf probably all the sign a forward 'fanatics', like myself, know this deep down.

The jump from league 1 to the championship is well and truly bigger than it used to be in outright investment terms.

Look at the turnover likely inconsequential season of our current squad in one season.
Then add in any possible jump in may to the championship and it's almost like starting again.

Charlton spent nearly £12m to make the jump.

That said more profound questions for Rupp, can he afford it? If not then it's partnering woth someone who can or selling on. Frankly he owes us progression given where we were when he came aboard.

DMac's latest podcast, apparently we had enquired about Jimmy Jay Morgan currently on loan at Peterborough from Chelsea. Guess that would have been if Chelsea were recalling him.

He also mentioned our new guy Joe White was someone they wanted to sign permanently last summer, however he said he's on over £10k a week at Newcastle (we'll obviously only be paying a fraction of that).

Bloody hell, young lad gets some injuries and loses a bit of form while still being our joint top scorer and helping us to third in the league and suddenly he’s not good enough. It’s no wonder some managers won’t give youth a chance if their fans won’t.

Why not? Let them both fight it out for a place and hopefully they both step it up as a consequence.

He is also a marked man. On numerous occasions on Saturday, 2 or 3 Cardiff players were on him when he got the ball. Don't forget, Wigan virtually kicked him off the park.

Agreed. This is a fantastic opportunity to go up. After the fan protests and letters to Germany, GA, Rupp and Sparks have won the fans over……but the credit in the bank they have built will be soon eroded if we don’t replace Cook and strengthen in this window, then slide into midtable.

Yes, survival was the aim in August, but it has quickly become apparent the goalposts have had to be moved.

Anything below a top six finish would be very disappointing from here.

Even a top ten finish would be frustrating if we miss out.

Make the most of this opportunity, City, and get us a new striker announced……

I think the club knows that , GA indicated so in one of his interviews. The right one has to be identified and AVAILABLE for sure . Without the latter I don’t want us to buy “ just anyone” to appease the supporter . ( Oliver springs to mind) .
Im not referring to an “ improver” like Wheatley, Mellon et al, for clarity.
Glad I’m not in their shoes , it’s a lose lose conundrum?
Let’s be honest here , we aren’t a bottomless pit of likely tax avoidance “ losses” like Stockport or Huddersfield ?

I don’t for a minute think he hasn’t got ability, however I do see a fitness issue recently ( Mere speculation on my part ) , coupled with opponents targeting his game .
It’s up to the player to beat and play through that ,until then, the wild “ valuations” we have seen recently will remain “wild” .

I have nothing against over valuing our players tbh, much better than the other way around. Then we either keep them or get more than expected, the club needs to always be the winner. Orient fans are saying they wouldn't except less than 35 million for Ballard, sure he's going great but he's done it over half a season so it just shows how crazy the modern market is.
