I have always know that kevin. We have fans that baulk at price increases of a few quid after years of highly affordable football, that has helped build the supporter base to level's that most in the lower league can only dream of. If we want to move forward though and expect the owner to fund it, we have to play our part
Low tickets prices lend themselves to sustainability.
Even Halifax are charging more for a season ticket

Kevin I agree to a point but we have moved on some big earners this month. Good attendances and gate money etc etc ...Everyone is saying we need a forward and I said at the end of last season let's see what Rupp does with investment ref money wise in the higher division? We need a finisher so lets see what they do if we are serious about promotion.. I think we have someone but just need to finalise it...our business in the last two year has been very very good..

There should be a little increase but not at the rate that its gonna turn thousands away ............we may have thousands that can afford but in these days we may have thousands that cannot simply afford it.

I mean you only have to look at the league and how clubs with far better budgets than ours have massively under achieved.............if a big increase in Season tickets prices was gonna guarantee success then we would all be on board but sadly it doesnt.

Sam Smith or Windass might even end up being available at this rate....... didn't they spend £30m in the summer too? Fairytale story continues!

    Yep.
    IMO.
I'm not saying we shouldn't spend money per se, it's just that it comes with a number of variables.
Spending money because we lost to most/all our rivals would be a mistake as with the end of the window being so close, it would lead to a sense of desperation and would be picked up by agents and the selling club to get the maximum wallop out of us.
Spending money just to get us promotion is lacking foresight, spending 1, 2 ,3 hundred thousand(or more) on an aging forward who has no experience/form above L1/2 would be wasted funds.
Spending money to get players who are 21 - 27 from either Championship clubs or with genuine promise to get promotion and stay there, is the way to go, but clubs with a lot more money than us will snap those players up.
Good, young or experienced quality loans are the way to strive for promotion, saving the big bucks for the summer when there is much more availability and greater room for negotiation is the way I would go.
But I'm not a manager asking for the funds, I'm not a COO liaising with the ownership and I'm not an owner with limited football knowledge and limited funds. I'm just a supporter who has seen us spend big before only to suffer years of financial collapse and the consequential decline because the hierarchy made the wrong decision.

Just glad i am not making the decisions
Rupp is fantastically wealthy compared to probably every other city fan and further advancement of the club, will only strengthen his hand, but being worth £100 million does not mean you have that cash to hand.
Or that you are willing to invest on a football player, who next week could be worth zero.

Precisely, the ownership there is investing for the Premiership, that is plain to see, because they know with promotion comes millions and millions of pounds and with a sustained residency in the prem their investment will be returned multi-fold.
The danger though is that if they don't go up this season or next, the owners may start getting buyers remorse and look to offload the club.

In the context of "club sitting just outside championship play off places and trying to get into the Premier league", it makes sense.

    Just that it's Wrexham!

Options will open up next week as Championship clubs bring players in and then need to let some go.

Sorry park, only just seen this but that's your problem right there. Constantly over playing the performances of players you like. (See big Vadaine for further proof).

Baldwin is "standing out" in league one?

I'll file that in your "Tyriek is one of our best players this year" statement bin.

Baldwin has done much, much better than my expectations, that's clear to see but let's be fair, with everyone fit he wasn't even an automatic first XI choice. He's had not only some poor moments but some very poor games so your assessment of him "standing out" (like possibly Touray has done) is just daft.

And the fans are paying right royaly for it, as we know far too well.
Which is always the case and one reason i prefer the slow and steady , not boom and bust approach

I never over played Oliver’s performance for us. I justified his signing because of his record. As for Tyreik whilst acknowledging his lack of end product I feel his performances are much better than some on here make out. As for Baldwin we are now in league one and he is one of the first names on the team sheet and our record is much better with him in the side.

That’s a different debate, however I don’t disagree with your comments.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for investment but if it’s short term to get us up and then discover those recruited can’t hack the higher division then it’s repeated spend all over again .
However investment in Metcalf and Neufville is likely money in the bank, which is a massive difference.

I'm seeing our transfer business as being a trade-off between 'going for it' this season, and being in a flexible position in summer to strengthen and go again if we don't get promoted.

I really don't see us making a marquee signing, at least a permanent non-loan. January is a terrible time to do business. Player values and salary expectations are massively inflated.

If we 'go for it' now and sign the wrong player, it would remove some flexibility for summer and potentially leave us in a weaker position for next season.

I think a lot said similar before the window started and predicted it would be loans and the only perm deals would be absolute no-brainers who work in CH or L1 next season. And to be fair it's pretty much shaping out that way so far.

Seven points and a game in hand on 7th place suggests we'd need to absolutely flop to be dragged into a play off spot fight, but looking at the fixtures we have coming up, there are a lot of must not lose games and the points swing could be eaten up in no time if we lose a couple. So i can see why people want us to go out and try smash the market for a difference maker.
