That equates to panic buying, assuming they really are going for promotion. That would be the biggest of gambles IMO.

If Blackpool were to sell Fletcher, they would be consigning themselves to relegation.

Except we were in trouble financially. Not sure Blackpool are, even though they backed Steve Bruce to the hilt in the summer

Yeah doesn't seem Blackpool are struggling money wise. Cant find a single link to any club taking Fletcher outside of the fella on the City twitter page who often tweets out utter nonsense.

Stockport have agreed a deal with St Johnstone for their striker they were after this morning, so that strikes them off the Olaofe list it seems if he is looking for a way out.

I can see why clubs aren't interested in him. Blackpool will want big money and he's not worth the risk. The reality is this is his first very good run of scoring at 30 years old and it's only started after Ian Evatt took over, before Evatt he was 2 from 11 since Evatt he's on 9 from 13.
I put a post up about him a month or so ago and mentioned in there that fans of his ex clubs and some Blackpool fans were calling him lazy which is another reason why I don't see us going anywhere near him as our team relies on a hard working striker not someone who just wants to score goals.

They won’t work like that ,they will be waiting and negotiating with players and probably talking every day to clubs and players. January is tricky, players are not out of contract and you need something to drop into place, for instance a club signing a player and then willing to let a City target go. There will be a lot of brinkmanship leading up to the deadline.

Yeah i must admit i don't massively see it in him? Lots of failed births and as you say it's not like his career has been stellar until Evatt came in. I remember him in the fixture at our place earlier this season and he didn't seem to do much, Ennis looked more of a threat until he picked up that injury and i think he's still out from that knock now?

If you're Fletcher and you are finally in form, ride it out until the summer and see what Blackpool are offering. If he gets another 7 or 8 goals even between now and May, he'll have enough suiters in the summer maybe even at CH level and he him and his agent are laughing. If they get their ownership sorted, someone like Sheff Weds could be written all over players OOC like Fletcher in free agency.

For me, a top 6 finish is the bare minimum now. We have sat near the top all season and to fall away would be a disaster. I don't expect, nor feel entitled to promotion - but as long as we continue to have a good go at it, its been a successful season whether we get promoted or remain in L1.

Standards have been raised and so have my personal expectations. As long as we remain competitive and in the promotion conversation I am happy.

Fletcher is out of contact in June, so I don't expect a big money, they would only want to be compensated fairly IF they were to cash in. 17 goals in 30 games this season......if I am honest, I personally don't give a toss if our main CF is 'hard working'. I would rather have someone who can score 20+ goals a season.

Fletcher wouldn't cost the earth and if he was to continue his goal scoring form at City, I have think it would be enough to take us up automatically. Worth the risk for me.

I think Olaofe will go right to deadline day. They will want a perm move, no one will have it so they'll take a loan late in the day

its a difficult situation we are in, Fletcher might get us up, but could he cut it in the championship, so what length of contract , 18 months max
Our early season success has really put the cat among the pigeons. i think we really have to go for it, then again its not my money.

“ It’s not my money “….. Realism at last. People love spaffing someone else’s money up the wall ….Lee Grant springs to mind , do we really really want that back at VP.? Some need to remember …been there , seen it and got the video.
Any player investment needs to be long term , short termism helps nobody and just adds to the bills .

Indeed it would be. With our recent recruits all being loans and potentially Wheatley - if true - as well, it doesn't suggest we are risking much money and gambling on our future. I fully understand that approach from the owner's perspective. Bringing in the likes of Langstaff or Olaofe or Fletcher on expensive, lengthy contracts doesn't fit with what we've done so far and makes little sense to me.

when Sheff United were in this league they signed Hanson, not because he was a long term solution but he was identified as a player to take them over the line.

hopefully things spice up a bit before the end of the window i personally think we are going to drop off a bit if we dont strengthen significantly up front, we are something like 12th in form table over the last 6 with Cardiff and Lincoln 1/2.

I see it being loan only really? They spent £1.5m on him in the summer and gave him a 3 year deal, they aren't cutting bait just yet. But it's clear he isn't what they need at this minute which is why they've brought in Lydon Dykes on a deal until the end of the season. If Tanto can get first team football until the end of the season, they might try again in the summer. But it doesnt do him or them any good sitting in the stand for 25/26.
