I prefer my CBs to be defenders first and foremost, and in that respect Platt wins hands down. However Baldwin showed on Saturday that he is much better at bringing the ball out of defence and picking a pass. He tries to do this all the time and in previous matches he has got caught out with misplaced passes almost costing us. He needs to be more consistent. One thing I did notice on Saturday was that Shepherd and Baldwin seemed to have a good understanding. When Shep got dragged wide, Baldwin dropped into the middle and covered.

Id say it was a cheese sandwich but one from M&S at twice the price. Ultimately they are pretty much the same, but one is more expensive. I;d go further and say Platt is the type of defender which old school supporters like as its up and at them but I'm more of a Carvalho over Terry type of player. You dont need a last ditch tackle if your positioning is spot on

Yes I noticed they all looked more linked up each had their own tasks. When Walker went forward Kelly dropped back. All good.

    .
There is no way GA is bringing in a replacement for Walker at this stage in the season. A more experienced back up and someone who can challenge him, maybe. However changing Walker right now isn’t defining the outcome of the season IMO.

Agree. Only 23 too, lots of room for further improvement. I'd hope we're able to take him permanently.

What's happened with Huntingdon? Has he stayed on or gone? I may have missed the news on that one.

Shep signed a new 2 year deal before coming here on loan, cant see Barnsley selling unless they get a great offer. They've got a years option on him too.

Huntington is still about, his deal doesnt expire until the end of the month.

I'd rather have Hadi on the bench than a loan youth keeper.

Having said that, if we can sign a 30+ year old backup who can push for first team then fine.

Hadi gets in the England youth squads i believe so, you have to wonder why he isn't in our matchday squads.

The only way he'd stay with us is realistically if they got promoted because then they'd look for more championship level players.

If we get promoted we'd need to put in a bid but I wouldn't be confident. I get the impression they like him and are supporting his progression.

He's had no game time even in the EFL cup so I think that tells you that he's not seriously in the first team plans as yet.

He's yet to get a call up to an England Squad. In the summer he was asked to join an U18s summer camp at St Georges, think that might be what you mention. But looking at the current U18s and U19s, there's nobody in either who plays for their parent clubs. The last squads keeper is on loan at the City of Liverpool FC in the northern prem and he's the only one who's played a competitive match so far this season. Youth squads shouldnt massively be read into to be fair, there's such a pool in these academies, there's loads of chop and change. There are 38 players who have had an England u18 cap since September.

Did you see the Sheff Weds loan player Carlisle brought on? Fusire - a midfielder. Was absolutely hopeless.

I am surprised at some of the comments on here re Sam and needing a replacement - in my eyes SW is our number 1 and is a good League 2 keeper. Yes hes made mistakes but so do Premier League keepers

Agree Simon, I can forgive Sam's odd errors because by hell, he's pulled off some superb saves to keep us where we are.
