Doesn't sound like he could play the Novak role that you were advocating for a replacement for above though.

Pretty sure it was 2million and he's been injured and he's wanted by championship teams with Birmingham leading the chase. He most certainly won't be dropping to a relegation threatened league 2 team.

Hasn't every club in league 2 just received at least 250k from the Premier league?

I am pretty sure he is fit at the moment and hasn’t been included in the last two league one matches

We're getting McAleny. We're getting 6 points this week too.

Lots of reasons to be optimistic at the minute.

Someone should check in on @Fordy117@Fordy117 though. His team's falling apart...

Until his signature is on the dotted line we shouldn't count our chickens but this would be a very good signing.

    As have we.
Maybe the management duo feel we can get an upgrade or a better forward to play the lone striker role.

Talking of signing players who looked good against us - I thought Mullin and Hoolahan looked decent whenever they had the ball on Saturday. Hoolahan is 38! Certainly didn't look it, and was busy all match. Mullin seems to have a stop start career, was playing non league football six years ago and was hardly prolific, but seems to have found his feet at Cambridge.
Actually, just looking at Ironside also - he was playing non league football just three years ago. Also had a decent game on Saturday. Perhaps scouting the leagues below us is not a bad option afterall.

Mullin has always been well liked by the fans wherever he has played as he gives his all but yeah, it hasn’t fully clicked for him until this season has it.

Swindon fans and then Tranmere fans both liked him (scored a few in latter’s FA Cup run but was loaned out when Vaughan was brought in last January) when he played but he’s really flourished under Mark Bonner at Cambridge.

He came through the youth set up at Liverpool and later spent time at Huddersfield, so he had a decent grounding.

His contract is up in the summer but whether he’d want to up sticks with a young family and come back up north probably depends on whether Cambridge go up....if they do they’ll certainly want to keep him and with a higher wage cap in L1 he’ll certainly get a better deal there (or maybe another L1 club). Its such a bad division they must have a great chance of making playoffs at worst though?

His next contract, on the back of the season he’s had, will likely be his most important one now as he’s 26 and he’ll be able to get a longer team deal than the shorter ones been offered up to now. He’s in his peak.

If we sign McAleny this week and then bring in someone like Mullin in the summer on a free, should Cambridge not go up and there be any more interest from higher divisions, we’d be in a great position next season!

Not sure if Novak will stay given he’s looking at a cut now the cap has come in (would like him too obviously) and Donaldson will likely retire? We’re gonna have space for one, possibly two main strikers, Mullin would be ideal for a role in the ‘3’ behind the main striker as he cuts in and can bang them in from anywhere, bit like Rowe seems capable of doing......

Mullin should attract interest from league 1 as goal scorers are always in big demand. We cannot compete with the salaries that league 1 can give within the salry cap. He won't be coming here.
