We asked if this could mean the departure of other key players if indeed we are looking to cash in during the window? He advised that Bradford also asked about the availability of Conor McAleny but this was knocked back by the club so this isn’t necessarily the case. He also didn’t rule out more movements in/out over the remainder of the transfer window.

With this sort of comment I'd be going back with a bob or two more that statement hardly sounds convincing ?.

I would be absolutely amazed if we landed McAleny. Would be one of the best windows we've had a few years...

We're getting McAleny. We're getting 6 points this week too.

Lots of reasons to be optimistic at the minute.

Someone should check in on @Fordy117@Fordy117 though. His team's falling apart...

I can see DMH and French leaving, and a wide player coming in.

TBH though, the fact we have several days left and we're talking about maybe needing to get just the one in, is a fantastic representation of the job that the club's done this window. We've created a platform whereby the summer could and should need just 3 or 4 outs and ins rather than a full rebuild to assemble a promotion capable squad.

Then again, unless we have an injury or change the formation, when have you seen a defender coming on as a sub?

Think you are being a little too harsh here. I accept the views in respect of DMH, but to say French is in the same category seems fundamentally wrong to me!

Whilst I don’t think FCD should be dropped I think Hosannah is a class above and one of only a couple who stood out earlier in the season

A selection from the BAFC twitter:

"I’m shocked at this!! One of our best players all the best Charles "

    "literally our best player"

"Gutted I thought he’d start to shine with all the fresh faces"

    "Can’t understand this"

"Charles Vernam is an incredible player and way too good for League Two. One of our best players in the first half of the season but just doesn’t seem suited for Hasselbaink’s system. You’ve got a brilliant player, Bradford fans"

Just think about what's happened in the last 8 weeks or so at this club. The turn around in form has been amazing, but just as amazing is the return of the feel good factor, not unconditional but at least it is back.

one thing that i thought that cant be underestimated is that this current form must have made it easier to attract these new signings, which again is down the the new management team, well done

Question for @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler - I'm impressed that the lads who have been released have signed deals with other clubs the following day or two.

Has someone helped these lads find clubs, or have we just been honest with them, had a private chat, and told them they're free to leave if they can find a contract elsewhere otherwise they can stay?

Either way, I admire this very much from Bradford City.

There's a lot of talk about how ruthless we've been in trimming the fat, but I'm really happy to see these lads get deals elsewhere and I think that narrative is both negative and nonsense.

    Interested to hear.

The club have already shown their cards regarding ambition this season. I'm not expecting us to even try this season. For me there's no point spending for spendings sake. We'll only end up with another Guthrie, DMH or BRE on a 2 year contract.
As someone mentioned earlier, this season is such a missed opportunity.

Mate, Woking FC play in the National League Premier.

How is Guthrie going to be good enough?

Unless its needed to stave off real relegation threat, I don't really want us signing anyone in Jan. Certainly not anything other than a short term contract/loan. We need to build from scratch and its pointless tying up funds that will be needed in the summer - especially with the prospect of a new CEO and Manager in the mix.

Genuine question - why would Stuart be the answer? What qualifies him as a DoF?

Hate saying this but he’s yesterday’s man IMO, we need to look to the future, be innovative and try something new. Knowing the club, loving the club or whatever bullshit shouldn’t be the criteria. In an era where everyone has the same budget a systematic and scientific approach is what’s needed, taking the marginal gains to get the edge over the rest, not more of the same tired old bollocks.

No I am not. I want winners at our football club from manager to players. Encouraging pub players because they show enthusiasm is the reason we are plummeting towards non league oblivion

Don't be ridiculous. Samuels has done nothing to show he's worth signing on a permanent deal so why on earth would we do that..... Oh, yeah, you're probably right.

Just reading on bbc sport page about Greg Halford who played and scored for Southend last night.36 years old not played for 18 months.Signed at half 6 yesterday scored in a 3-1 over Grimsby 3 hours later and playing for NOTHING.Said he put word out and trained at Grimsby before signing for Southend. Not saying he would have come to us as he is an Essex native but it shows the myth around out of contract players and fitness is exactly that- a myth. There are decent players out there. You just have to be prepared to do the work and go and find them.Might even get one for nowt.Southend did.

I think a new striker is much more of a priority than a right back mate
