We've been over this on several occasions on here and there is still a major confusion betwen Home Grown Players (HGP) and Club Developed Players (CDP). They are quite different but are often mistaken for each other.

I'll try and summarise the position. A matchday squad has to include 7 HGPs. A HGP is any player who has played for any club affiliated to the FA or FAW for 3 years prior to him becoming 21. Most of our squad, excluding some of the RoI or NI players fit those criteria. I've used Fabregas previously as somebody who meets the HGP criteria from his time at Arsenal to illustrate the point.

On the other hand, a matchday squad also has to include 1 CDP if a full complement of subs is required on the bench. A CDP player is somebody who has been registered at the club for at least 12 months prior to his U19 season. DMH certainly fulfils that criterion but so do others (including arguably Donaldson!). If there is no CDP in the matchday squad, it simply means the squad can only have 6 subs.

I'm not convinced that a sudden influx of City developed youngsters has anything to do the CDP requirement. It's more to do with the Academy doing what they should be doing, ie developing players good enough to progress into the first team squad. I believe we are now beginning to see that happen.

The budget has always been good under Rupp it’s the people spending it that has let the club down

Donaldson will be used as a sub till he retires in the summer.
Left side of the 3 behind the striker when looking to close a game down, pressing opposition defenders whilst keeping hold of the ball high up the pitch.
A good option to have around the club if you ask me.

Agreed I never understood what some on here and social media saw in him, he had a fantastic game against us when Peterborough destroyed us Boxing Day a few year ago. But every other time I’ve seen him he always seems lazy with a chip on his shoulder, and is now being passed from club to club because Peterborough were once trying to flog him for millions to the championship with no takers. Bradley Dack was arguably behind him when they were both in League one, look at the difference now. No doubt he’s got ability, but someone like that ends up bottom half of league two for a reason.

    New rule.

If they've been here before, let's not discuss them.

The transfer rumours thread should be interesting, not dull as ditch water.

We didn’t miss out on Hurst he wasn’t successful in-his application. Our upturn in form means we don’t need to recruit in panic but instead to make sure anyone coming in is right not just for this window but for next season as well.

Early 20s I think, scoring goals two divisions below, just the sort of player we should be looking at. Not saying we should sign him, but if we were in the championship and a 22 year old was scoring a few in league two you’d expect the scouts or the manager at the very least to go have a look.

Or in other words, a decade or so ago 23 year old Jamie Vardy was scoring goals for Halifax three divisions below us.

Would like to think something is well down the pipeline - checked in with a couple of scouts I know this morning and they said our name has been linked with a number of possibilities, my main mate said one in particular looked like 'it had legs'. He is going to see if he can find out anymore today.
Not linked specifically to us but he said a new batch of Prem loanees being offered out to EFL clubs in past couple of days - a couple from Chelsea will be tied up today

Honeymoon period or not, these guys are certainly striking a chord with me.Like a much needed breath of fresh air is flooding through VP. For once in a long long time fans and management alike appear to be on the same page.A rarity indeed but very satisfying.Appreciate there's a way to go..but so far so good.

Too many. What is appealing to me is that Sparks , Trueman and Sellars are young eyes with a different outlookm to the merry go round of managers etc that are normally rolled out. They may yet fall flat on there faces, but the old gaurd have done nothing the past few years.

I agree. No transfer is a guarantee, but what I would say is that there looks to be an element of control and planning at play that we’ve not seen for a while. BRE leaves and within a day, Canavan is confirmed. We need pace and width, we’ve brought in a winger as one of our first signings. Samuels leaves and is immediately replaced by Burrell - a similar player but one who at least on paper looks to be more ready for first team football.

It’s not reactionary, or desperate, or last minute, like it usually is.
