Jamie Walker (with Poll)

Discussion in 'City Talk' started by Silverbantam, Apr 28, 2024.

?

Are you happy with Jamie Walker remaining a City Player

  1. Yes give him a 2 year flat contract

  2. Yes give him a 2 year incentivised contract

  3. Yes extend his current contract for a season

  4. Offer him a 1 year deal on improved terms

  5. No, sadly injury prone, there are better options out there.

Walker has been linked with us 'Carlisle', (mind you every player in the Northern Hemisphere is linked with us at the moment). Supposedly signing on a three year deal this week.
Always injured you say? and is based in Yorkshire, well fits the bill perfectly.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After signing gubbins like Jordan Gibson and Omari Patrick from us, if you signed Jamie Walker you're actually getting a cracking player for once.

Words can't express how much better he is than those posers.

To be fair Jon, Gibson and Patrick were OK for us, not world beaters but OK. Although Gibson has bee released it was common knowledge he wouldn't sign a new deal anyway, and Patrick always wanted to move back down South, that really worked out well for him, moved to Sutton, got relegated and hardly played all season.........the grass is always greener.................not!!

Saw Walker twice this weekend in Saltaire, he was playing football yesterday afternoon in Roberts park with his kids and some others and again this morning having some breaky with the family on the high street.

Wasn't he spotted filming for Andys man club this week at VP? Surely we wouldn't have a guy who is leaving in the near future film with a club affiliate? He's one I'm not sure on. He seems to be really settled in the area, ambassador for loads of different affiliates of the club and then on the field his numbers are fantastic for the minutes he plays. But as said, his career has always been a struggle with fitness and turning 31 next month, he probably has 1 big earning deal left in him. If we've offered reduced terms, he might look for more money or more security to put him to 33/34.

Let me tell you with 100% certainty. Walker isn’t signing for you.

Never actually thought he was, just repeating what has been said on one of our sites, its as usual the rumour mill spinning itself out of control.

Walker is really good . Even with his injuries he got and made goals . He is very good but always a walking glass wardrobe you're taking to the fifth floor with a really skinny mate . You are always waiting/risking to crash and burn... when its raining after ten pints of Tetleys.. Sunday morn

How do you know for certain.

Seems a logical move to me, City haven't activated the 12 month contract extension which would have secured him for at least another 12 months. Sure, they've offered him something else which he may find derisory.

If Carlisle are offering him better terms, coupled with being a lot nearer his home town, seems feasible to me.

I truly hope he does sign a new contract here, afterall, he is our best player

He doesn't, it was a daft comment.

I think, if our offer is close to acceptable for him then he'll take it but I'm in absolutely no doubt that if he gets a much higher offer or longer contact elsewhere then he'll be off like a shot!

There is an assumption that players always want to move back to their ‘home’ town.

This website is testimony to a large proportion of people who actually move away from their ‘home town’.

I have no intention in moving back to Bradford/Shipley/Baildon, that is no criticism of any of those places, but just that my life has moved on.

For me if we are serious about next season I would definitely have taken the option to extend on Walker. Yes I get the injury issues but I would rather spend the money on getting 30 or more games out of Walker than spend it on 2 or 3 squad fillers who bring feck all. He makes the difference when he plays.

The player doesn’t hold the cards here, we do, and I’m telling you now, he’s not going to Carlisle.
    He’s not going anywhere.
