Happy with that. Means there's no chance seeing him in claret and amber again.

Not hard to replace a non scoring striker. Ten a penny.

Talking of Guiseley and City, James Hanson scored a hat trick in his first 45 minute outing for Grimsby yesterday

Not much opposition for him but he will do a good job for them this year
If he can keep his fitness
    Good luck to the lad

I know the opposition was weak, but provided he stays fit, Hanson will be a handful in league 2 for sure, the big question mark is of course, his injury record over the passed 2 or 3 years

Yeah, those 91 goals for us, by the third highest goalscorer in the club's history, all scored themselves, I guess.

Look, he's struggled with injuries for several seasons, including his last two at City. He's never going to be the force he was several years ago and he's not coming back to us.

So isn't it about time that people like you stopped making snide comments about him whenever he gets mentioned and belatedly acknowledge his pivotal role in the club's successful pre-Rahic period? The man will continue to be a City legend long after the last couple of seasons here are forgotten.

Will never be able to comprehend some City fans antipathy towards Hanson. He scored some of the most important goals in the club's modern history, at Villa and Burton in particular. OK, so he wasn't the most mobile or skillful player, but those two goals alone make him someone who'll be remembered and talked about when we're all long gone.

Totally agree. The header against Villa was brilliant. Not given the Credit he deserves.

Does anyone think we will be talking about Doyle in years to come
    No thought not !!
Big Jim scored goals for our club that any other of centre forwards could only dream of
Yes his better days are behind him all these snide comments are totally unjustifiable

You can all blow smoke up Hanson's arse as much as you like. He was a player who was decisive at best and within good reason. There's no disputing he had some great moments in a city shirt and played his part in our success. In between that, he also put in some very abject performances and was not always the answer. It's why we were so woeful in front of goal for large periods of his stint here- something his fans overlook when they get so defensive of any critisicm that comes his way.

He also played in some bloody awful City teams for several years before Parky turned us around. As a big target man he was heavily reliant on service from others and the service he got was often awful. He also ran himself into the ground for PP, as the first line of defence, often pumped full of painkillers, thereby exacerbating his injury problems and reducing his mobility. This clearly affected his performances in his last couple of seasons with us.
When fit and in decent teams he did the business for us.

Hanson was quite often very poor even when you factor in the cicumstances you account for- similar to someone like an Eoin doyle last season. Sure, the service wasn't great but it doesn't excuse some of the chances he missed that any striker worth their salt really ought to be scoring.

The fact remains that PP teams will be remembered for being outstanding in defence and very average in attack. I'm not sure how anyone can say that A) Hanson wasn't a major part of that and B) did not contribute to it with at times some very abject performances.

You and others have every right to rate Hanson as he did achieve success here and he did give us some great memeories that will rightly be cherished by City fans. The only problem is that Villa away and Leeds at home don't even remotely reflect the entirety of his city career and there's another side to the argument that you either won't accept or will make excuses for.

Given our recent history, he's one of the most successful strikers that we've had. It wasn't all about his goals it was about bringing others into play and making the ball stick in the final third. His strike rate for a target man isn't even that bad? He offered more than Doyle has ever shown and I think will ever show in a City shirt.

Not going to argue with any reason you put forward for Hanson. I get why you would rate him as a footballer. I'm not sure his fans understand why so many didn't.

I'm not saying he was the most talented footballer that we've had on our books, but in terms of success and all round contribution I think it's unfair to say that people can't see past Villa away and Leeds at home when he offered far more just remembering them two games..
