Amongst the numerous things discussed between Rupp and the management team must have been Jake Young. 9 goals, three assists... thoughts on if he was brought up and what was said?

I read the title and thought you meant did he physically bring him up!

Along with other fans, would love to know why Hughes hounded him out of the club this summer rather than give him a chance in pre season. Instead, I understand he was training with the kids and played at Avenue with the kids in the friendly.

I know he's scoring for fun at the moment but I don't recall him doing anything to impress not only MH but the club, and it's supporters.

Was he really going to get ahead of 30+ goal Cook?

Did he do well on his loan spell? no.

I don't think he was playing in his favoured role at City and Swindon have played to his strengths, with tactics to match. Much the same happened to Eoin Doyle which by coincidence, was also when we was loaned to Swindon, and the goals flowed for him too.

Are you not understanding that Rupp doesn’t care about what’s going on at the club unless it’s about money.

Why would he discuss football when he doesn’t like it?

I caught up with Youngs family member on some work drinks last week but nothing groundbreaking was said. Jakes loving Swindon, he was actually upset he didn't score a few more he thought he should have put away. Sounded like all parties want a perm deal in Jan.

This is just going to be another one of those ones that didn't workout, probably for a lot of reasons on player and management sides. Feels like we've had a fair few that just don't work here compared to us taking others rejects and finding gold, in recent years.

I wonder if Chelsea had the same boardroom discussions after they sold a struggling striker to Liverpool who then went on to score 139 goals in 6 years and still going.
It’s football, it happens, get over it.

Correction: Sold him to Roma. It was Roma who then sold him to Liverpool

Think Young scored 4 goals in 7 games while here before been sent out so was showibg an eye for goal ? His game was always quick direct attacing football which was never the Hughes way

Fair enough. The point being though that sometimes for whatever reason a player just doesn’t fit in or succeed at a club but their next club it all clicks.

Within them 7 games he was terrible in the Colchester and Tranmere away games, even against Sheffield Wednesday when he got 2 goals he wasn't very good.

Ah, the old 'other than scoring goals, what does he actually do?'.

I was just thinking we could use someone who might get 2 goals in a game and do bugger all else. As long as the oppo didn’t score more than one.;)

Funnily enough, Young scored 2 goals in the Wrexham game, but they definitely conceded more than 1 ;)

If Rupp did bring him up at the weekend, it explains why he didn't score for Swindon, and would have made his mind up once and for all that the Young V Hughes argument was most definitely won by Mr Young. He won't be coming back here as long as Hughes is in charge

Another good post @Jordan@Jordan but I'd say before any deal can be brokered Hughes has to have our club in a far higher league position than we currently occupy because if not come January Hughes won't be here to be a part of any deal IMO.
