Road works and speed humps, Drove over a thousand miles through France and Spain and not one road works, no speed bumps and the roads were smooth and a pleasure to drive on, Why do we put up with rubbish roads and those not repairing properly

 

You were lucky Trevor. Used to drive from Moenchengladbach to south of France and Northern Spain for about 7 consecutive years and saw loads of roadworks every time. I take your point though - barely make any trip in UK without a slowdown or stop for road repairs

The NHS. Absolute joke of a service. My mums very ill and now i’m seeing first hand how badly organised it is. Whoever is in charge wether it be Corbyn or Johnson needs to ask themselves what they want the NHS to be. If cutbacks are the main prognosis of this then take funding from elsewhere, maybe the overseas aid budget or sack a few MPs, and get some people in to run the service how it should be run. What we want the NHS to be and what it actually is in practice is miles apart and its a shame because the principle behind it cannot be faulted, just the way it is run. Par for the course with hiw everything else in this country is currently run.

 

Sounds like you've just had a bad experience, whatever is happening is probably driving you nuts and I feel for you if that's the case, I have had some treatment via the NHS, not a lot admitted but in my case I just couldn't fault them (apart from the food, which I couldn't touch), they have such a heavy load to deal with and I sincerely hope that you can find a way through whatever it is, keep talking and asking questions, they are mostly good people and i'm sure there is no better place for your mum, good luck mate...

 

Thanks Tony its appreciated. My gripe is not with the ones on the front line, far from it. They try their hardest but are helpless in service that is hamstrung in bureaucracy. Daft stuff like losing my mums notes even though she is really ill. its been the best part of three months of intense pain being fobbed off from one building to another. A great idea in theory ruined by politicians.

Last year I lost my wife and can honestly say the treatment she received under the NHS was first class my wife died of cancer and from diagnosis to the end nothing was too much trouble the staff we met through scans,radiotherapy,chemotherapy were excellent nothing was too much trouble we never had to hang around for appointments etc they were extremely well organized Before this I shared your view of them being " Hopeless" but this was a real eye opener for me sadly the outcome was inevitable but they did give us another 12 months together
