Internships at VP

I dont know maybe because the club still has a budget to work too.

 

It’s a way of developing young graduates . We employed a number straight from universities or indeed put them through graduate schemes . Many went on to very successful careers . One ended up my boss even though I’d spent 6 months mentoring them in their “ wet behind the ears” introduction. It’s a great scheme Dimitry.

 

A bit like me you and me. Your older, more experienced, probably wiser....but im mentoring you about how great Twitter is and I can tell you lap it all up now.

MacAnthony uses interns at Peterborough, gets called out for it but i have no idea why. Showing willingness and an ability to learn isn't slave labour, its the first chance to impress prospective employers and to get your foot on the ladder.

The problem with football is most of these intern roles are full time and unpaid, that's great if you've got parents who can fund you for a year, if you don't these jobs are out of reach for a lot of people as they wouldn't be able to afford to live. It's another way the rich and privileged have a head start. Clubs keep doing it as they know they know they will have people queuing to get into football

Ours were paid BB when at work and uni fees paid from memory . It’s a while back. I can’t speak for football . You might be right, who knows , but it is known that those working for politicians don’t.

 

Like it or loathe it's how the real world works. Might not seem fair to some but most who do these roles will use the experience to their benefit.

 

It doesn't seem fair as its not fair, it's another example of elitism and privilege in this country driving the gap between the rich and the poor.

It’s nothing at all to do with elitism per se, it’s also application of self .
Example
11 year old twins. Same schools since 4 year old .

One has just gained a place at the best ( and fussiest ) Grammer school in Essex through testing , the other twin has gone to a mainstream school 20 miles away . Both our daughter’s boys, same parent , same upbringing, she works 5 days a week . One is a clever lad who loves reading and applying himself to challenges , the other is a Jack the lad , like I was, who just wants to play football!

How is that elitism?
