Richard Crisp: Sheffield man charged over social media post after death of West Brom fan Mark Townsend

A Sheffield man has been charged over a hate-filled tweet about the tragic death of a fan following a medical incident at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium.

An ‘abhorrent’ post was subsequently shared on X (formerly Twitter), referring to the tragedy and to the Hillsborough disaster of 1989, which claimed the lives of 97 Liverpool fans.

What goes through or doesn't go though these idiots minds after such an event?

His tweet which is going on about another life chalked up to the leppings lane end is just vile and he is even if he doesn't end up in jail going to find out the consequences of such actions. His employer no doubt will dump him, Sheff Wed if they haven't already will ban him and rightly so.

Why do these idiots think that posting vile things on the Internet under their own name (his twitter was Richard Crisp) would ever be ignored?

The stupidity of people today is breathtaking. This isn't even the first Sheff Wed fan who has done this, someone was charged and found guilty with regards to the Sunderland fan Bradley not long since.

It appears that Doncaster Rovers have also issued a fan with a lifetime ban for comments he made about the Bradford City fire disaster.

These morons are going to have to learn the hard way that you aren't totally anonymous whilst you post on the Internet and there are consequences for what you say.

In an update from the Sheffield Wednesday fan,

He's been arrested and is due in Sheffield Magistrates on the 14th October.
    His employer has sacked him.
He was golf club captain and they have kicked him out of the club.
Sheffield Wednesday have also given him a lifetime ban.
His twitter account has also been suspended.
