How to make amends.

Alexander post match interview and his demeanor suggested to me it was more than the Smallwood incident, I've posted a similar comment in the Swindon thread not blaming him but also I don't understand the logic behind the two half time changes, then again we're not privy to who was carrying the bug.
Going in at 3-2 up at half time I would think Alexander asked Alex and Bobby if they could have done another 15 minutes rather than immediate changes we'll never know we can only assume not as both were not their usual selves first half, they were certainly strange changes, especially as up until Saturdays result we had the second best defensive record in the league behind Wimbledon.

If the dressing room is anything like the ones I have been involved with, even on an amateur basis, the senior players will have laid into him telling Smallwood exactly how stupid he was. No need for a public apology, however, if he has got anything about him he will have apologised to all of the team, those that matter, on Monday morning.

i do think a few apologies from the players would go down well but we’ll see.

We know we’ll be missing Baldwin at the back now so they need to work hard in training and stop crumbling to these silly, weak goals.

I think we’ll do it now. That’s got to have been a bit of a boost regardless of how poor we’ve been recently, plus we’ve still been good at home.

Maybe more importantly, no matter how we’ve felt recently Walsall must be lower than a snakes belly. To blow it today after having it back in their own hands must be traumatic.

 

I was watching the Walsall game on my phone on the journey home, the strike from Woods wasn't as good as McGoldrick's but it was still an excellent strike, as was the one in the second half that Simkin pushed over the bar, all in all Accrington were good value for their win, as you say its been one mad day, just hoping the Benn/Eubank fight later tonight lives up to all the hype.
With regards Walsall as the Accrington players we celebrating with their fans there was constant booing from the Walsall fans as you commented they must be gutted.

Noticed Baldwin didn’t get mentioned once in the 34 minute long press conference today

 

I'm hoping he next gets a mention in July. Something like "Stanley sign Baldwin" will do.

Oddly Dave, and the issue that I can’t answer myself is the fact whilst individually they all have a mistake in them and individually insufficient qualities, the half dozen or so choices have together contributed to one of the meanest defences in the division.

I realise that those in front of them have been outstanding , aka Smallwood , but let’s be honest , nobody would have forecast such a mean defence in the round?

 

Got a last min invite for the do last night from a spare and spoke to a lot of the players.

They are a good group of lads aren’t they and i think they will finish the job on Saturday.

Richie was, quite rightly after cleaning up, buzzing, and I think he will provide the calming influence we need on Sat.

we sometimes forget how big this football club is, and sometimes how much progress we’ve made under GA. Yes, we aren’t perfect, but we’re much improved.

You look back at the mistakes at Swindon and Chesterfield and at other various points, but we never do things the easy way and in a weird way, the script is teeing it up for Saturday, on a day of the season that is so emotional for City fans anyway. In front of our first sellout for a very long time.

Richie is back, Patto, Sarce and Bobby are available, and although we’re missing Baldwin, its our midfield that wins and loses us matches, yeah?

to have our fate in our own hands, and to be able to secure promotion in front of our own fans on the final day, and potentially celebrate on the Valley Parade pitch at FT……what a situation we’re in this weekend.

we know our home record is much stronger than our away form and it would be an absolute travesty if we didn’t get the job done.

puff your chests out lads, turn on another home masterclass by getting at them early, and seal the promotion your performances deserve.
