Bit annoyed by the cancellation as I'm already missing the Barnsley match and i always prefer Saturday games to midweek. That said with a few injuries stacking up it may work out to be a well timed break

The cancellation might not be the worst thing for us. We've come through a busy period and have lots of injuries. It gives chance for the squad to reset and go again.

You would think that the Everton U21’s team would have a large amount of ‘internationals’ among the squad. Surely it would also be postponed?

They postponed a game already against Northampton Town for the same reason, doubt it's anything to do with us or being scared of us lol

They've also postponed games against Northampton Town in back-to-back seasons, so let's spare a thought for the Cobblers getting mucked about by the Imps and their team "full" of internationals...

The players involved are probably Justin Obikwu, Reeco Hackett, Ivan Vafolomeev and Dexter Lembikisa.

Out of those players, only Hackett is a regular starter for them. None of the others have started a game this season and have rarely featured from the bench. There should be some sort of rule where for a player to be eligible to be 'one of the three', they must have started 50% of games in the previous month. Otherwise it's just a bit of a farce.

Agree some sort of recognised formula, even if it is based on appearances in a game, rather than starts.
I assume it will be a FIFA rule. rather than one the EFL have come up with.

It's always been a joke in the lower leagues, getting games called off because you have 3 young lads in Zambia's U21's or something. You can get 10 injuries but are forced to play, but god forbid you miss a few bench boys for a game. Personally, I'd do away with the right to get a game called off and it just be the risk you take signing these players. There could be people who have already bought non-refundable travel and hotels etc. again the fans are the last thing football cares about.

Can't be doing with the international break even when our game is on, now being without a game next Saturday has pissed me right off. Seems to me Lincoln couldn't wait to get it called off, teams now using any excuse to delay playing at fortress VP.

They've already agreed for the game to be played in the international break so they've got no choice but to play it. It's why the competition moved pretty quickly from having 3 pretty strict dates for the groups stage that were all international breaks to play games whenever you want as long as the group is completed by a certain date.

I don't think it being against us came into consideration for them, very few teams have the chance to call off a game for international calls ups and pass on it. The only reason they won't have postponed their game for the 1st international break in September is that 2 of the 3 internationals joined on deadline day so it was after the deadline to postpone. If the same players are called up again next month then their game against Doncaster will be postponed.
There was a couple of mentions by their fans on Facebook that Darikwa has been called up by Zimbabwe, if he has then they would be without their 2 right backs so I think any team would be wanting a game postponed.

As has been pointed out, if the two right backs were injured, then they would have to play the game. The fixture will start a new backlog, especially as the game will now probably be played on a winter Tuesday evening (which could be vulnerable to the weather, never mind City supporters living a distance away and having travel time).
Perhaps put their reduced number of travelling fans in Block A of the Main Stand! That could generate a backlash amongst their own supporters.

One of their star internationals has played just one game and that was in the EFL trophy, there really should be a minimum requirement of first team games played before allowing a postponement.

From the Lincoln forum, worth a scan for their take on the postponement.

Maybe we need to be a bit more savvy and sign some young international loanees going forwards??

Obikwu has scored a couple off the bench lately, so while I agree it's frustrating, I can see why they'd say he's a reliable player. He's almost certainly going to be brought on to try and grab another late goal :)

I heard they payed about £350,000 for Varfolomeev, which is very strange. They've been bringing him on for 10 minutes at a time. Wonder what kind of investment he'll turn out to be, but seems a loooooot of money for a foreign investment.

It extremely frustrating to say the least. It will now be a night game in late autumn or winter. Not sure they have done it deliberately to avoid playing us. They would not know how good we are when they bought those players.
