Rowe followed the ball tonight, which wasn't helpful. Since our most prolific forward pass was a diagonal to the wings, Rowe kept wandering.

I thought he was poor and showed poor discipline. As a result he was near useless at leading the line; a crucial job.

He's not getting in ahead of Cooke, and he'll be a little fortunate to start the next game.

And after all the build up too, I was certainly buying the hype.

Hopefully just a bad game after his poorlies.

You're right, Leyton Orient pressed high and closed us down quickly, we actually did all right to retain possession at times playing some smart passes - ultimately it didn't look like we would create that all important match-winning opportunity, but that's because Orient came tooled up with a game plan.

The game was frantic at times, and no, we didn't cope perfectly with the pressure Orient brought, but we DID match them, and we DIDN'T wilt.

The changes allowed us to go on to win the game, albeit somewhat fortunately, but at the end of the day - a win's a win.

Canavan and AOC for me. Cooke had a good game though, certainly the best of any of our midfield or attacking players.

It was one of them games that had no stand out player for us. One of the subs MOM.

Where on this thread has anyone suggested we had 4 or 5 stormers tonight? Everyone has said we battled to win a poor, ugly game.

None of the back 4 were poor tonight they were solid and have been since T&S why single players out for criticism it’s not justified

Typical tough league 2 game I thought, LO a team that kept their shape well and left little room between the lines, a testament to how things have turned since Christmas that teams will start to do that now.

I don't want to get in front of myself but I'm really warming to this group, much like I did to PP teams. Long may it continje

The only frustrating thing is that he's almost a member of the back 5 at times in games. I know he's keen to get on the ball but him dropping so deep seems to drag the rest of the midfield deeper and makes it easier for the opposition to press higher.

I like it when he's taking the ball higher up and in tighter areas where he's dragging people in and making the spaces for others to run off him. Sutton especially looks more dynamic and a threat in those situations.

That's not a criticism though, I'm probably just being unrealistic as he's set the bar so high for himself (as they all have) recently.

    He's not a number 9.
He's a 10 who needs freedom to drop deep and come out wide etc.
Cook is a number 9 who grafts and battles. He thrives on that.
Novak is a in the box striker with great movement.
Watch a lot of Rowes goals, left side or right between the cb and the fb, runs in the channels, long shots from dropping deep.
We rely on the 3 behind the striker, Evans, Cooke and Vernam to dictate.
They only get this opportunity from a bustling number 9.
Rowe is strong but as he showed by missing that 1 on 1 hes not a through the middle striker.

Lets just say, I'm delighted that his remit is now limited to that of coming on for the last 3 or 4 minutes to 'use his experience'. I don't think he's let us down either. Its just that his legs have clearly gone.

As I say, he's fine for brief cameo's when hard work and experience is all that's needed. We've seen how ineffectual he now is over longer periods in games.

The ref last night as well!!
    I mean talk about poor.
Thought they were clamping down on tugs and defenders impeding attackers?
No wonder Cook was fuming after his header went wide.
Had he not had his shirt pulled off his back we might have been a bit more comfortable.
    ref isn't even looking.
At least no29 was found out later with Crankshaw.

No loan players can play against their parent clubs anymore unless an agreement is signed - it's beyond gentleman's agreements these days - it has to go the other way with expressed written consent TO be allowed to play.

So I'd say it's extremely unlikely, but I guess until the clubs clarify there's always a tiny doubt. Can't see it myself though.

I have no issues with Cook and Rowe swapping and changing, there's a lot of games to play, BUT, if the disruption affects the momentum if the players then T&S need to make a call and play one more regularly.

That's likely to be Rowe, since he's our player
