But, that " One " player can make life a lot easier for our defenders yet, he chooses not too.

I think with ROD it’s just bad decision making. And because he suffers from this trait, then our centre backs do too. ROD should decide if he’s a puncher or not, and stick to that decision. Then it’s clear whose ball it is in the 6 yard area. It’s his indecision which is costing us goals. Look what happened to Allison when he lost his regular centre backs at Liverpool. Everyone needs to know the tactic and be familiar with it.

That’s right the goalkeeper should command the area any indecision causes panic

He doesnt need to score remember the Bury game McCartan gets us front in injury time, they kicked off sling a high ball into the box James gets his head to it and Hendrie equalised with the last kick of the game.

I'm not saying that this game will be tough but I expect Hanson and Grimsby to be a dangerous team. As you rightly say Hanson could be a danger in the air and bring others into play.

Feel if Grimsby lose this then they are finished in this league.

Agree they are fighting for football league survival I'm sure Paul Hursf will have them fired up, the same for us we still have a chance of a play off place we should be equily fired up.

If Newport win tonight at Mansfield, we will be 7 points adrift of the play offs going into the game against Grimsby.
Omens not great as Mansfield have 5th worst home record and Newport lost 1 in 6 against their opponents.

Big night for Grimsby too. Colchester at Oldham and a win for Colchester will leave Grimsby 8 points adrift (realistically 9 with goal difference), playing 1 more game than Barrow.
Colchester win tonight and Grimsby are down.

IF Colchester , go into admin, as has been rumored , it gives the other clubs added incentive to perform. They will be bang up for this and we need to be at it from the start, not 20 mins into the game.
Although if i was chairman at Colchester , i would hang on until the season has finished and take the points deduction next season , they only have six matches left.

Morecambe play Port Vale this weekend who are on great winning run a defeat for them and a win for us puts us within touching distance and we still have to play them

Hopefully FGR will also continue their poor run and tonight, we will all be Mansfield fans.

Agree on all points. POC and Canavan will suffer from vertigo by the end of the game, having stared up into the sky where the ball will have been for much of the match. Worry about POC staying on the pitch for all 90 minutes tbh. There'll be plenty of bullying and fouling going down in this one. We win, Grimsby buggered.

Newport are on 60 points from 38 games if they win were 8 points adrift with an inferior goal
difference, but if they lose we are 5 points behind with a game in hand, we struggled against Mansfield at Valley Parade let's keep our fingers crossed for a home win.

On current form I think FGR will be the team to catch, irrespective of what Newport do - all 4 teams between us and the playoffs have tough matches this weekend (or Tuesday when Carlisle play Newport). I won't give up on a playoff spot just yet.

I absolutely agree he should be doing better on the high ball but he can't come for everything, that's just unrealistic. My problem is that when he doesn't come our centre backs have been found wanting time and time again yet there's only blame apportioned to the one player and that simply shouldn't be the case.

For me the whole team as a defensive unit need to improve on crosses and set pieces, there's no way this is purely down to who is between the sticks.

We've to target Morecambe because we play them last.

Think we will all take a winner takes the Play Off spot in the last game of the season.

Wonder if that Sheeran would fancy a move up to Yorkshire for next season? I've always liked a midfielder that can carry the ball forward and create space because the oppo get drawn to them. He looked decent when we've played them.

But...it should always be down to the goalie to organize his box. If he's not utterly forthright about what he wants, who should be where and who should 'go' first, then it's a bit of a dog's breakfast. Which it has been sometimes with ROD. Less so with Hornby. With him between the sticks, the defensive unit seemed so much more sure about what their roles were and who should go for what.

Yes best midfielder on the pitch. Reminded me of Grelish (?) Too expensive for us I’m afraid.

I get what you are saying Monks , however , he’s CAPTAIN and he’s NOT organising HIS box imho and lastly he isn’t COMMANDING it .

That’s where all this uncertainty originates.
