As Botswana says, he must've been there before the pitch renovation - pictures online from Thursday/Friday. It's not a big deal, obviously. Just idle thoughts.

Wonder why the club held on to the announcement, only then to see it leak?

He might have travelled to VP on Fri and agreed to sign, but paperwork might have not gone though over the weekend for whatever reason, in which time the pitch could have been dug up before signing was announced?

I think it's more likely that digging the pitch up was a threat to make him sign, TBH.

Thought his distribution was excellent yesterday.

Ridiculously good. He managed to volley the ball down and across the grass straight to Ridehalgh at one point. If that was Alex Bass or ROD it would have been airballed into the Midland Road stand

When the spare men are the fullbacks, then moving it quickly and accurately is a big advantage.

He’s a good keeper and a step up from recent recruitment in that area of the squad. His “relaxed” stance at getting the ball away , surrounded by pressing forwards, has me worried sometimes, but he’s a confident lad for sure. There will be an odd mistake in him no doubt but not one that impacts on a result I hope!

Low, drilled passes right to Cook's chest. Time and time again.

    Superb.

Yes no doubt he’s an excellent passer/kicker. Can’t pass judgement on his saving skills yet as he hasn’t been tested properly, although he was very unlucky on Tuesday when it rebounded back into the net.

So that was a test and he saved it……. The less “ tests” he has the better!

Yes I had forgotten about that. Don’t want to jinx but I think we have finally found the keeper we have needed for years. Once you have a decent keeper I don’t care what anyone says you’ve done half the job.

He’s impressed me a lot tbh, even though his goal hasn’t been bombarded which is a good think when called on such as against Donny he’s made a great save. Would have been on for save of the season but for bad luck with the ball hitting him on the back again Hull. As others have said his distribution is a massive step up on any GK we’ve had in years excluding loanee Pickford.

Not sure how he hasn’t played more out on loan as he’s that sort of keeper judging by what I’ve seen so far, that we’d usually only be able to get as a loan. I’m delighted he’s ours, hopefully he’ll continue to improve with more game time and if he does we may need to think about an early contract extension. When Sunderland are having to go for the likes of Bass you know a good keeper will always be in demand!

Agree. I expect him to get some sort of contract extension in January if he continues to perform as he is doing. The sort of player you can build a strong back 4/5 around. Add to that Smallwood in CM and we are beginning to get a really good spine of the team together.

    Agreed, looks an excellent acquisition.

I do think he has an error in him at the moment though from what I have seen - he has occasionally come out for crosses and got nowhere near them. This may be a hangover from less physical U23 football and I'm sure he will get used to the rough and tumble of L2, but overall looks thoroughly impressive.

Great punch from a corner under immense pressure on Saturday shows he knows how to command his box.

I think we have an extra year in favour of the club at the end of his 2 year contract.
