    I actually thought Gibson looked quite promising today. He played centrally (apparently his best position) and had lots of nice touches and his dribbling was excellent. His final product however was poor but he seemed really up for the fight of getting into the team and worked really hard and didn't shirk his defensive duties.

    Not sure why we still play them year in year out. They are always over physical for an early preseason game. They usually look like they could easily injure one of our team

    Their lad slid for the ball and Staunton went sliding in studs showing straight into his groin. Looked a bad one.

    I don't think we should be flippant about Staunton's tackle which was one of the worst I've ever seen and completely unnecessary in a pre-season friendly. He could easily have broken the lad's leg. The poor kid was distraught as he left the pitch. I hope he recovers soon. How the ref didn't show a red card I'll never know.
