I don't think we should be flippant about Staunton's tackle which was one of the worst I've ever seen and completely unnecessary in a pre-season friendly. He could easily have broken the lad's leg. The poor kid was distraught as he left the pitch. I hope he recovers soon. How the ref didn't show a red card I'll never know.

 

Probably not helped by his dad blowing smoke up his arse and talking about him like he is the second coming

 

I wouldn’t be surprised to see 2 different line ups and not necessarily anything like what we will see come August. It’ll be more about giving players some minutes, even if not in their natural positions.

 

I love my football but even i draw the line at possibly listening to a friendly game on the radio. Hard enough listening to league games on the wireless.

 

Was going to ask how Riley did. I’m hopeful bowyer can make a player from him yet. He must have ability. Just hope he can sort out his alleged poor attitude so that talent can be realized before it’s too late for him (and us).

Why?
Based on his performances before suspension he has real talent. He's incredibly quick, has a decent engine to get up and back, has a decent shot on him and is still young.
From what I've seen of him he's easily capable of playing in L1 and should rip most L2 defenders a new one.

It'll take him a bit of time to recover full fitness but less time than you'd expect with any player that's been out for a long time with a serious injury. If charges are dropped or he's acquitted, I can see no logical reason that the club would choose to lose such a potential asset. He's an exciting talent and I would love to see him back playing for us if circumstances permit.

What makes you say that? We're still well short in terms of first XI and the squad so why would we not have a look at a few free agents in the hope of picking up a bargain?
