I would imagine at this point she doesn't write her own Facebook posts. However, i'm also sure that she will have a large say on the content etc. Like I said earlier whether you agree with everything she says or not, got to give her some credit for at least believing/speaking out about something.

The more I hear from her / about her the more impressed I am. People can disagree with what she says (personally I think she’s absolutely correct) but the number of adults going after her (a 16 year old) on a personal level (e.g. her persona, her diagnosis, her looks, etc.) is embarrassing.

Seems like Putin doesn't share your impression. Maybe she should go have a one to one with him. Would be very interesting viewing.

The "more you hear from her" or the more you hear from "the message"?

Don't get me wrong, I admire her strength for standing up and trying to make a difference but unfortunately, the more public attention she gains, the more of a media circus it becomes and with that the higher possibility of outside influences taking control.

In short, I wonder just how much control she has of her initial message anymore.

Well the message is the same. It hasn’t changed. The climate is in meltdown and action needs to be taken.

I agree that the media love to get carried away but I suppose it’s got a lot of people talking about the environment and climate change which will hopefully lead to positive change.

I would love to know what she and her family do differently to the rest of the world to help the planet. Maybe I have missed that from her?

Well she traveled to the US on a boat with minimal carbon footprint. I’ve never done that, have you?

Her mum used to be an opera singer and flew around the world performing. Greta convinced her mum to change her career so she didn’t need to fly and thereby reduced her impact on the environment. Have you changed your career due to environmental concerns? I haven’t.

Her / her family fund all her costs to take part in this climate campaign (e.g. hotels, food, etc) and they have sacrificed their education, money and time to support this campaign. I’ve not spent much time or money campaigning for environmental causes. Have you?

I recycle about 40 empty beer cans a week. I'm trying my best here but I can't do it all on my own.

No I havent done any of the above, and I have no intention of doing so, but fair play to them. At least they are practising what they preach, unlike the left wing luvvies led by Emma Thomson over here. Lets see if they stick to their principles for life

I am not going to feel guilty though about driving to work to support my family

I am not going to feel guilty about boarding a plane a couple of times a year for a hard earned holiday in the sun, or visit family who dont live in the UK

I wont feel guilty about lighting and heating my home

You don't have to feel guilty. You can support the cause though. The technology is there now to drastically reduce emissions if governments make a commitment to it with the urgency that the situation merits.

It’s not a question of guilt. It’s just about making a conscious effort to change habits in order to benefit the broader effort of climate change. At the end of the day though, we are only small pawns in this, the most effective action we can take is working to get climate change at the front of global political agendas and that we elect governments that are focussed on the issue.

Yeah because governments definitely follow the electorates wish. Brexit has been an absolute doddle.

Not quite the same concept though is it. A party elected with a majority and a manifesto that includes climate change policies will be able to pass the policy as the party is likely to support the policies. Brexit isn’t a party policy and MPs are more willing to break ranks, hence the chaos it is causing.

I would imagine if the popular movement towards taking action on climate change continues, all parties will have to adopt policies to address it.

Bang on. Hypocrites like Emma Thompson want all the benefits of supposed global warming but not for the rest of us. Funny how many don't actually practice what they preach.

Exactly. When ever has any government ever listened to the electorate? Thats right , never. Voted in on 'manifestos' and 'pledges' that aren't worth the paper they are printed on. So many naive people in this country.
