The article, good as it is, convinces me more, that despite his title of assistant coach, he will be calling more shots than an assistant would normally do so, and the title of Head Coach given to Collins, is more of a protection to Abbott as he recovers from illness.
I suspect Rahic had in Abbott in mind as the new manager, until news of his illness emerged?

 

Another possibility is that he had Collins in mind but knew he would need someone more experienced to help him along, saw Greg taking on that role but had to wait until it was clear he was well enough to take it on. Greg says in the article he will be more vocal when we are losing and will stand back more and let Collins and Drury take the credit when we are doing well which suggests to me that he is there as protection for the new boys, rather than the other way round.

 

Loads of people have been calling Abbott a “snake”. Disappointing.

 

No doubt Greg will take the flack for this afternoon
