Early days but if France go out and England beat Germany, will we have ever had a better chance?

 

Not as good as the world Cup chance we had in 2018, but we bollocksed that up, and I fully expect us to do the same again.

 

The Germany team is better man for man, than ours, their manager is better and they have a proven tournament mentality. I just don't see us beating them - unless we're bang at it and get a bit of luck

 

This is a very even game. Germany are not coming into this tournament in good form. They bombed in the last world cup, and didn't win a game in the nations league between the tournaments. They are currently third in the world cup qualifier group having lost at home to North Macedonia.

England seem to be built from the back, and playing teams like Germany is probably better than playing against teams who would prefer to sit back.

I think England will edge this 1-0.

 

All true, but the Germans deliver when it matters. We're the opposite - look convincing against weaker teams and then stumble as soon as we face anyone decent.

Like I say, a comparison of the teams and they look stronger.

Neuer is better than Pickford,
The centre backs are about the same
Goosens looks better than Shaw
Kimmich is different to Walker, but they're both quality
Kroos and Gundogan over Rice and Phillips every time
Sterling and Gnabry are similar
Havertz and Grealish are similar
Kane is a better number 9 than Muller, but he's had a shocker so far.

Germany have a much better record of delivering when it matters.

We'll need to score first - if they do, I don't see us coming back into it. Its a shame that Wembley will be so sparse, because a proper home advantage could have been significant.
