It encapsulated how I felt about that period, after reading it I copied & pasted it to share, I'm truly sorry If it has offended anyone it was not intended too.

My sentiments exactly. Wasn't a pop at Bronco, he's a good friend. You're right about the last ten years, I guess it's in line with the growth of social media where everything needs a label or a headline.

Not at all Steve we all have our memories of the day and the aftermath, I have posted I'm not a fan of "The 56" merchandise and would never wear it myself others may take consolation from wearing it.

Thanks Dave. I've PM'ed you. I was worried that I might have upset you and I'm so glad to know that's not the case

My thoughts are with everyone affected by the events of 11th May 1985 and the years since then.

I've an issue with the branded 56 hoodies etc. It's not a marketing opportunity! It's a sad thing that happened. Anyway today isn't the day to get into this.

Don’t worry about it Dave. As I said repeatedly yesterday. Everyone remembers in their OWN way. I remember the whole event from early that day to the days following like it was yesterday. I know where I was , I know what I did, what others around me did and so on.

You remember it how you want that makes you feel comfortable with.

    Stay safe .

There doesn't appear to be any online coverage this year. Have tried Facebook, twitter, YouTube, radio stations.

Such as a shame as its been done so well online in the last two years.

Not sure if I've missed it or the club just decided against it but it would feel odd to stop something that they started and that was well done.

RIP to those who were lost, and my thoughts go out to all who were affected. Its purely through a quirk of fate that I wasn't there that day. I was a 5 year old kid and had been invited to a birthday party instead. Otherwise I'd have been in that stand with my Old Man. Me not being there meant he went into the Kop with his mates instead.

A horrific day thats forever etched into this club, and the City as a whole.

People remember in their own ways. There's an element of the 'branding' conversation that doesn't sit well with me either, but no one has any malicious intent.

I really don't like the 56th minute applause. It does not feel right after years of sombre and respectful remembrance for all those affected. There were many more than 56 victims. Another 200+ were treated in hospital, which was overwhelmed, so many injured went untreated. Many were horrified by the sights they saw and developed mental health issues, including amongst the police, emergency services, hospital staff and members of the public that got caught up in it. Some survivors developed guilt complexes. The subsequent strains broke up families and caused job losses. There were thousands of victims of varying degrees. My thoughts are with the surviving relatives and friends of the dead and the very large numbers affected that horrible day. It was more than 56. Though it's upsetting to do so, today I will remember. Tomorrow, I will try forget again.

I have a similar tale. My wife, or girlfriend as she was then, said she would like to come to her first ever game as long as we went in the stand. I had never been in the stand before but relented and agreed.

A week before the match, her Grandad died in Ireland, and the funeral was 10th May. She went to Ireland for the funeral with her mum and consequently had to miss the match. Because of that, I used my season ticket for the terraces as usual.

When news filtered through to her in Belfast that fateful Saturday afternoon and realised I was safe, she went into shock thinking about the fate of her Grandad passing away.

Sliding Doors moments. A horrible, horrible day. Even now when you watch the images of the day, it doesn't seem real.

I refuse to watch them from the week after to this day. They are used on lots of FireCourse videos which I had to have “ refreshers “ every four years. For those 20 odd years in that job I walked out of every single one of them as soon as that bit started. They knew me, they knew my history. Nobody from MD down said a word!

I too have attended courses and politely asked to leave the room. I was at the game that day and in that stand. For 364 days of the year I'm fine, but on this day and if the videos come up it brings it all back. RIP to those who lost their lives and to those suffering as a result I hope the pain is getting easier. We're all with you.

At Bronco’s request, the title of this thread has been altered. Dave has taken on board the comments, about the use of the original term.

Dave, is a good man. I enjoy banter with him as he can take it and give it back but lets not turn something into something it wasn't people.

Dave means well. Unlike me who can be a major c*nt at times lol.

Always distraught on this day. My best mates and I should have been in the stand, but because it was the game where the trophy was being presented, there were more lads than usual wanted to go, so we decided to stand together on the Kop behind the goal. As well as having been a City supporter since 1961 I've also been a Liverpool supporter since 1965. Just 18 days after the Fire came Heysel, and then four years later Hillsborough. Almost gave up on football around that time. Think it was only the fact that in those days I still played as well as watched that kept me going.
