I have no problem adopting a style of play for the whole club just not 4-2-3-1 ( 4-5-1 really ) I would much more prefer more attacking options with much more flexibility, Man City ( 4-3-3 ) and Leeds ( 4-1-4-1 ) are much more attacking and yet flexible formations which have the added benefit it can be tweaked to player injuries etc, These pressing styles are good to watch and the fans will then get behind the club more, The present managers prefer the much more pedestrian and defensive style of play but it is hard work for fans with little entertainment

I think it is great that T and S are saying they want to play a certain style and are being backed by Sparks. The 4-2-3-1 system does not have to be rigid, it can be tweaked either prior to kick off or during the match and changed to a system mentioned above - 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1. What is does require is players who are good enough and skilful enough to be able to play this way. At the present time we are lacking players with that ability or technique in the wide areas of midfield. Vernham and Crankshaw can be decent at times, show flashes of ability at times, but over 90 minutes the two together are not (IMO) good enough to take the team to a higher level. They could well improve with experience but together do not impose themselves on matches enough. This means that the lone striker does not get sufficient or good enough service or support and is therefore isolated.

Also not sure both can play in the 3 behind the front one unless we're going for it. They both need to be wider and our 3 seem to be very narrow at times which is less playing to their strengths. Neither are real dribbling players, perhaps Vernham can be at times but both seem to like to push the ball on and round rather than drawing in and beating a player.
