Anderson is a shocking player and Devine isn't good enough but yeah let's all keep bashing Akpan.

Akpan has played decent recently.

 

Akpan has had a "Will Atkinson" style improvement. He's gone from "completely ineffective" to "barely passable".

I'd take Devine in a straight choice as at least you can rely on the effort level.

 

I thought Oteh was superb yesterday, not just his goal but his all round game was vastly improved from recent weeks. He played a role like Hiwula did under Stuart in that he was dropping deep to link the play, popping up out wide and running in behind, plus he ran his bollocks off.

 

You would take "Mr Sideways" who has no effect on games?

I wouldn't mate, it would be Akpan every second of the day.

 

Exchange Mr Sideways for Akpan and I could ask you the same.

 

Just seen the highlights. Great goal from Oteh but Connelly really should have put that one away when one on one with the keeper. Good result though!

I remember commentary about a tackle by BRE in which he hurt himself. It wasn't the same incident as the Henley tackle.

 

From the highlights video it looks like the defender got a foot in from behind and knocked it behind before Connolly could get his shot away. Corner not given as I recall from the radio commentary.

 

Yes that's right Offcomedun, I just think that Connolly waited too long which allowed the tackle to come in. He had the opportunity to slot the ball home earlier but didn't take it. That's no criticism of the lad - I love to see him play!

 

Connolly was well clear and should have scored no excuse.

 

That extra touch to put it onto his right foot gave the keeper and defender an extra second to get closer to him to close him down and put him off. If he takes it with his left he doesn't go into the defender's path and at very least gets a clean shot at goal.

 

Correct. I don't think he realised how close the following defender was and thought he had more time.

 

Shrewsbury fans are sweating on the St Kitts and Nevis v Grenada result tonight. If Grenada win they expect their international players to be released to play in Tuesday's replay.
