As I've posted at the start of this thread, this match is not meaningless and certainly not in Stefan's mind. At the start of the season his view was "We need immediate promotion, a good Cup run in one of the competitions and McBurnie to be sold so we can get back to level", said to me pre the Cambridge game. Winning leads to winning more and I just don't get Fordy and his constant negativity. You should always look to be a winner in everything you do, once you pick and choose the wheels come off. This is a poor draw but throwing the towel in is not the way.

Looking at Shrewsbury's team, it looks miles ahead of most of the League Two sides we've faced this season (on paper).

This could be a good test for our promotion chasers - I say take them on, full strength, full steam ahead!

This is the guy who criticises fans for accepting mediocracy, then says play a weak team.

Bradford City shouldn't be in div 2, tell us why, because were a big club, most of our history has been league one and two, we have to earn the right to be in a higher league, just as we did under Phil Parkinson

When Bradford City in this poor league we should be looking to go straight back up. were second in the league with a bad injury list I think looking at us we won't be far off come the end of the season, promotion is not won in November.

Do you disagree with this? YES

Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Sheffield clubs are leaving us behind. Now if you're happy with that then you continue making excuses mate. I feel we will start playing catch up but don't let the club bully you into having a lack of ambition. What a silly comparison, Leeds bank rolled by a very rich Italian owner, Huddersfield until the start of this season also bank rolled by a die hard Town fan with an estimated £290m, Barnsley were in the same league as us last season, and looking like they could come straight back down,Sheffield United again rich fan with £100m, and now in the hands of Prince Abdullah bin Mossad Bin Abdulaziz al-Saud with an estimated wealth of £18 billion, Sheffield Wednesday taken over by Dejpon Chansin with a personal wealth of $720M who says fair play rules don't allow him to put money into the club he'd like to, can you see a pattern forming here.

I believe we're failing and where the club stands and operates highlights that for now. OK failing second in the league, players coming back from injury, we operate on £!49 season tickets we cut or cloth to suit, when we have an owner in that league who is prepared to back his club then we will be able to compare like for like until that day we will have to do as we have in the past build the club on firm foundations and build on that.

Sounded like a good performance against an in-form league 1 team. Great effort with the number of players unavailable today.

Non league at home imo. And they’re Saturday games and I don’t think we have any Tuesday games, before or after, so play a full strength team.

A good cup run is not only enjoyable, but could be a big boost to the January war chest.

I remember going to Shrewsbury as a 4th tier side in the FA Cup, when they were in the 3rd tier in 1976. We beat them 2-1 and went on to reach the quarter finals that season. Lets hope history repeats itself

Play the strongest side and progress into Round 2. Winning is a great habit and won't interfere with any promotion aspirations. When you're winning, it's funny how any niggling injuries seem to fade away! The income from a good cup run won't go amiss either.

We should treat it as another league game, the players could just as easily get injured playing a practice match or a training session so go into the cup match with same mentality as a league game. A saturday without a game is actually counterproductive to the squad.

I trust that you will accept my most fulsome and unreserved apology for the use of an inappropriate and, seemingly perplexing, colloquailism. My own interpretation is that it is applied in speech amongst friends or acquaintances to indicate, with suitable sincerity, that insufficient attention or diligence was employed prior to an action or voicing of an opinion. In the case in point, my intention was to confess that I could have mistaken one on-field incident for another, similar but separate occurrence, and, thoughtlessly or hastily expressed a view which was not in accordance with that of others. I may say that I used what I considered to be a vernacular form appropriate for a Football forum. I shall be more circumspect in future, and hope that I may count on you to provide immediate guidance should I fall once more below the standards of lucidity and rigour in grammatical English for which this site is rightly revered. By the way, at what point did everyone start using 'Cheers' as an expression of gratitude?

We’re second in league 2 and we’ll dick Salop as well. What we should be asking is who do we want in the second round.

It is possible to get promoted and go on a good cup run in the same season. Now when did that happen to a League Two team?

It’s a first team game on Saturday. Suggest you do a bit of research on international breaks at the top 2 levels, and look at some of the changes in form that a 2 week break can cause. I’d rather the team keep gelling and improving.

Also we’ve had a fair few injuries in training anyway, ask any pro they’d rather a game than a training session.

You can’t go into the FA cup thinking like that in our position. We could just as easily get injuries in training, i get it
We're a league 2 side. Talk of resting players for an FA cup tie is absurd just in case we might pick up an injury. What next? We gonna stop them training as well?

We have been unlucky with injuries but as idle says some have come in training, it’s just part of the parcel of football. I won’t cry if we get knocked out, and it’s somewhat of a free hit.

However it’s a good chance to test ourselves against a team in the division where we want to be next season, and could be a confidence booster should we win. If it were on a Tuesday it would be a different situation but should we get knocked out it just means an extra training session or behind closed door game which is pointless.

I’d personally rather the club add to the coffers if possible and potentially get a good 3rd round tie than spend a Saturday doing nothing next month, but each to their own.
