2017/18. Bar our cup exploits under Parky our cup form is generally pathetic. Theres been the odd shock in that time, Everton away and Spurs at home spring to mind but you'd have to go back to the great team of the late 80s where they got to two successive league cup QFs, losing to Luton and Bristol City iirc.

Yeah I remember those Luton and Bristol games.
In recent years the club / manager doesn’t seem to put much importance on the cup games, hence we typically go out in the first round. Pathetic really as you never know when you might get a plum tie and reap all the money.
Look at Wimbledon who’ve got Newcastle (away) now and if they get through they’ve got Chelsea.
We need those kind of games

Was that when Tommo dribbled the ball out of and then back into the box?
Did they score from the resulting free kick?

I remember Luton for Paul Tomlinson picking the ball up after the rule change and Bristol cos Joe Jordan was a tw@t throughout the entire game.

Yes, that’s the one. I think the new rule had only just been introduced.

One mental away game. Soon as our coach came off the motorway and got onto a line of other city coaches getting close to the ground we have ointment and luton fans at it outside a pub big time. That was just start of of it

Be a good time to let the muppets who run our club know what we think of their efforts, live before the nation. Just saying.....

I got down there about 3ish and the police allowed us into a pub before heading towards the ground. Unfortunately the Luton lads had other ideas and came at us from all angles. Ended up going in the wrong direction away from the ground and just made the 7.30 kick off.

Were we not the first away fans allowed in after Millwall rioted in the ground?
We arrived around 5pm and it was already carnage.
Got into a pub full of city fans. All I remember is all the fans stealing all the memorabilia before leaving.
Awful game. Awful ground. Awful pitch. Awful goalkeeping.
I was in the seating area but the rozzers keeping us in for about an hour after the final whistle ended up with us all having to break out of the ground. Families and old folks rioting against the police was a new one for me , but justified just so we could get home.

We was the first team to play there following the antics of Millwall.

I couldn't agree more on the rest of your post. I was 14 at the time and certainly an eye opener despite many other eye openers, mainly odsal Vs Leeds at Victoria Ground Vs Stoke

I hope we don't draw a non league side, because that would be utterly embarrassing losing to them. I wouldn't fancy our chances against Guiseley if they got through the last qualify round

I think City fans all had new hats off the walls from 1 pub. Then problem with the plastic tickets if I remember correctly
