Funnily enough bezos is now so rich he could literally solve world hunger and still be a billionaire. This is why I'm so strongly against deregulation because I think capitalisms biggest flaw is it eventually will eat itself out of sheer greed if you dont have some form of restraint on it. so things like workers rights, separating investment and retail banking so the silly bastards are only gambling their own money away and ensuring public services stay publicly owned would be good starts in my mind towards making the system work for the working man a bit more. its also why i really hate when the left is characterised as workshy because most of my political beliefs are centred around giving ordinary people a bit of dignity and respect at work.

very good point on the england stuff, i think again its capitalist mission creep in a sense because they're essentially trying to profit from looking virtuous whilst perpetuating the very problems they keep telling us gloits watching on the telly are so bad. same with live aid and stuff like that, its much more about the people doing the giving feeling warm and fuzzy than anything else.

Your blind prejudice against 'the left' leads you to characterise/caricature it in typical Daily Mail/Express/Telegraph stereotypes that bear little resemblance to reality.

Your assertion that lefties are often unemployed or unemployable is laughably wide of the mark. In my experience many of those who are long term unemployed (as opposed to temporarily between jobs) are all too frequently very right wing in their thinking, despite being propped up by state services.

Yes, a lot of public sector employees are left of centre. But many are not. I know this, having worked with them for many years.

It's very sad that you have this 'us and them' attitude towards the public sector. You seem to think that, because you worked for yourself in the private sector, that somehow makes you better than public sector employees. Of course it's true that we need private sector wealth creation in order to have a viable public sector. But, equally, we need a thriving public sector to provide the kind of services that the private sector either cannot make a profit from or cannot provide in an equitable manner that promotes social cohesion and justice.

You appear to labour under the misconception that 'lefties' want to get rid of the private sector, nationalise everything and bring down capitalism. That may be true of the lunatic fringe on the far left. But they are a tiny minority of left leaning voters and activists. Caricaturing all of the left, as you do, as Communists and Socialist Worker types is as inaccurate as if I said that everyone right of centre is a Britain First, racist neonazi - it's absurd.

The vast majority of 'lefties' recognise that we need a vibrant private sector to create wealth but that this needs to be balanced by fair taxation and properly funded public services. This is what happens in all successful Western democracies. Only in your fevered, McCarthyite imagination is the left waiting to pounce and impose totalitarian Russian or Chinese style Communism

Fair enough, to a degree, my thoughts do not emanate from any newspaper source but instead through life experiences so you can take that away from your suppositions...
I am pleased that you at least acknowledge that there is a 'lunatic' fringe intent on disruption and chaos but obviously these can ONLY be associated with the left whatever other criticisms you may have for the right...
I am not for one minute anti public sector it is just more than a coincidence that trouble and disruptions almost always come from the union barons that let's say have an alternative motive to what they do...
    Have a nice day....

I have to agree. It’s not just the polarisation of opinion - there’s always been that. It’s the assertion of language, opinion and action that’s being so strongly pushed, and the consequence if you have a different view. Agreeing to disagree in a civil manner, with open discourse seems to be a thing of the past. Debate is now almost entirely emotional rather than objective. And its the militant behaviour of people who are genuinely, actively looking to see people lose their jobs, be criminalised, be persecuted if they have different views. Even on football forums, I’m aware of cases of people contacting the employer of other posters, because they find their opinions and language distasteful - I’m not talking about anything criminal, I’m talking about the finding of offensive language or different tastes in humour, a reason to have someone sacked.

The police only do that to ‘football lads’ these days. They’re more likely to be seen running a mile in the opposite direction,

I am not sure every single one of them is breaking the law. The ones that are should be punished. The others not
