    Even better afternoon session.
What's the betting Siddle hangs around while Steve Smith gets 150?

This is getting a bit painful, far more runs than they should have got when Siddle came out.

Let them off the hook today, still, it was a good effort given Anderson's early injury.

Despite what we think of Smith, he is a brilliant batsman, and he was excellent today

Good solid batting display today by England. Well done to Rory Burns for a magnificent maiden test century.

Fantastic, not easy conditions by any stretch.

Another day of terrible umpiring though!

Pretty poor batting effort today from england, back to yet another batting collapse.

If no jimmy anderson bowling the 'oz are right back in this game.

Yep agree, but we have three in the bag today, we just need to get Smith out!

    Not likely.
Burns gone already. Not looking good.
I'm worried by Ramprakash's comment that some of our batsmen will fancy knocking these runs off. There is no way we are going to win this. Heads down and grind out the draw is our only chance, but do our players have the mentality to do that? I somehow doubt it.

I'd say at this stage, the match is well poised for a draw with the Ozzies having a slight advantage if anything. The idea that England could win from this position would be farcical. We have a number of batsmen in key roles - Roy, Denly and Buttler - who are great batsmen but their natural style comes to the fore with the white ball. We'll have to see how they respond to the pressure on the final day and whether they can protect their wicket rather than chasing the runs in their more natural white ball mode. I'm expecting Lyon to be a key player for the Aussies and I'm not convinced that we'll cope particularly well with him in that situation.

We’ll lose comfortably without rain I think. Maybe all the arse licking of Strauss and Bailiss from the press will stop if we lose in our own back yard to one of the weaker Australia sides to come here in the last 30 years.

Roy gone now, dancing down the pitch to Lyon. Pathetic.
I'm fine with having Roy in at opener to play his natural attacking game in the first innings. But if he wants to be a test opener for long he has to learn to rein in his attacking instincts in a backs to the wall dogfight. Hit the bad ball, yes. But trying to knock Lyon out of the attack on a turning pitch with a 300+ lead isn't going to work, because they won't care if he concedes a few sixes to buy wickets.

Where’s a Michael Atherton and Jack Russell when you need them, no scrap or fight in this team I’m afraid. I’ll be home from work about half 4, have to probably find something else to watch.

All going predictably t!ts up. Denly out coming down the wicket to Lyon now. Several left handers to come.
I'll be amazed if we make it to tea at this rate.
