Out of interest, what are all those cask-like barrels with the red, blue and yellow bands at the back of the bar? Your secret stash?

 

Been a walk this morning/early afternoon, discovered one of my usual pubs has decided to open, so had a draft pint of Millstone.

Just the one for this afternoon and a lighter strength given the weather and plans for a meal this evening.

 

Sticking with the St Austell Proper Job IPA 5.5% for today's match.

This evening I'll be moving on to Beer Hut (Kilkeel, Northern Ireland) Citra Cornet DIPA 8%

 

If it is good enough for this guy it is good enough for me. Forget the quasi french lager. The star is on the left!

 

For the final evening match of the season it's:
1st half: Fuller's (Chiswick, London) Bengal Lancer IPA 5.3%
2nd half: St Austell (Cornwall) Proper Job IPA 5.5%

with more Proper Job on standby if things get really bad.​

 

Up here in the Pennines then the choices are:
Dunham Brewery: Lymm IPA 4.6%
Worthington: White Shield IPA 5.6%

So two true India Pale Ales tonight.

Years ago in the West Country south of Bath, I encountered something called Screech which was like a very very rough Cider, the second fermented ends of cider barrels. It was very cheap and exceptionally potent. I got to the very next level (+1) of a hang over. It totally did for my Cider drinking career, don’t like the stuff at all.
