The fact we've even risked this is concerning and questionable of the hierarchy.

It's actually making our promotion push even more difficult when we've essentially gifted a top 7 rival with a clinical goalscorer. It's so ridiculously stupid!

Doyle being made the scapegoat for last season is laughable, who would you have played up top instead of Doyle.
Youre 10 men comment could be used against any of the other players in last seasons squad, and how exactly do you know he didnt want to play for Bradford City.
You don't care how many goals he scores for one of our opponents who are also going for promotion, I hope its not the goals Doyle scores for Swindon that determines who gets a play off spot.

I understand for Bowyer to bring in his own players we had to get rid of the high earners but to hear on Radio Leeds we're paying a % of his wages (large or small) whilst there is looking a bad piece of business at the present monent.

The fact its looking a bad business decision is because he is scoring for Swindon. If he hadn't been scoring people would be saying its a great bit of business getting shut of Doyle look what we are saving on wages. The club knew what could happen and it didn't bother them. If there is no recall clause the club was happy with that. It's all ifs and buts Doyle is a Swindon player who's registration we hold but that's it.

Let's be honest, a large chunk of people supported letting him go for footballing reasons, Financial fair play meant we couldn't keep him as well. He didn't perform well. If players who left clubs always performed worse, then there wouldn't be a functioning transfer market.

I agree that financially it had to be done but the facts are that we've offered money to other players that aren't contributing such as Longridge and Anderson. We have 3 left backs plus BRE who played there for Accrington whilst also having 3 right backs.

Money could definitely have been saved elsewhere, certainly on the midfield area where it's been very scattergun like with contracts and signings. Whether that would be enough, who knows but it certainly wouldn't have harmed us.

Doyle is performing far better at Swindon than he ever did for us, Preston or Cardiff. It happens in football move on, thankfully it’s only the fans who struggle to move on I doubt the clubs giving him much of a thought.

I don't mind him playing well, its the freeby bit and us paying some of is wages.

Even Ronaldo would have failed to score with us last year......

The financial aspect of it is understandable (even if it's questionable that they're only paying half his wages) but to a rival League 2 team it is definitely not.

I'm very much on the fence with this - I can see exactly why we wanted/needed to get him off the bill, or at least part of his hefty wages off the wage bill. but I always thought he'd have been decent for us at this level. he is a quality lower league striker, as he is showing. it's a shame that he's in our division banging them in, but I can't imagine there were many other sides from the league above queueing up to take him.

it is what it is. and we have The Don and Vaughan, who in theory, should get enough goals between them to get us where we want to be.

If his goals for Swindon end up taking points off our promotion rivals should we hit the top 4 its a win win for me and almost like having him in the team but without the disappointment of seeing him fail in the City team.

So if they have paid a fee for him as suggested above, does that mean we cannot recall?

As the thread is titled "Doyle Gone" you would think there may just be the odd post with regards how he doing.

If you say so. You’re missing the point so I’ll leave it there, the day I’ve had I’m not in the mood for going around in circles and that’s all people point scoring over Doyle is. Hanson and Law have contributed more on the combined goals and assists table but people don’t keep going on about them. He’s gone we won’t see him in a City shirt again thankfully.

Nothing to do with "if I say so" the comnents are relevant to the threat title.
Maybe you should put this paticular thread on ignore ;).
You'll have a better evening/night when we have 3 points in the bag.

I’ll have a good evening should we get a point never mind 3! Not an easy game regardless of the attitude of little old Cheltenham going on in the other thread. I don’t have a problem with talking about how Doyle’s doing more the point scoring that’s going on over a player nobody should give a toss about that’s all.

Agree there. We pushed ourselves into a corner with those signings meaning he had to go. I will hold back on Longridge as he could come good. You are right that we seem to recruit badly in terms of numbers. He must have missed out on a centr midfielder as thats a glaring weakness

Fair-do's to you. Still think the timings of these posts provides you with the benefit of hindsight. Would have held a bit more weight if made in the immediate aftermath of him leaving.

Just as much chance of him repeating his form with us at Swindon as there was for him to start banging them in. Him going has allowed us to rebalance the squad a lot more which is preferable in my mind. Sucks hes scoring but he never remotely looked like doing that in a city shirt so pointless playing captain hindsight. Glad hes gone and who knows, they might even pay us a proper fee for him in Jan. Or we could be shit heads and recall him.

He's missed a few chances tonight and they're getting pumped at home 3-0.

Swindon do look a good side, Doyle does look to be playing well, but 8 games just isn't enough for people to be pooping themselves.

Richie Wellens admits the thought of losing on-loan striker Eoin Doyle is a concern, but he will use precious time to focus on the controllables

The Swindon Advertiser seems to think we can recall Doyle in January:
