We won't have a more depressing era than the Donaldson-Guthrie era ever again.

Disagree completely about new managers from ex-pros - they all have to go through the same FA Courses and they encourage different thinking...

Where did I say we didn't need them? I'm actually defending one of them if you read the posts in context.

All I'm hoping for is that we have what I'd consider our strongest side available to start the game. I'm really not sure where the negatives are in that.

As a lone striker Donaldson does have some pace , which can get you further up pitch , as you can knock it over last man in certain cases , you can’t do this with Rowe

    You can say that again.

The Don has played 90 minutes on 8 occasions this season.

From those 8 games we managed 1 point.

    Good point.

It shows many of those other players are good enough to go on a good run.

But when you absolutely can't score, all it takes is one goal and you've lost, and we saw that play out during the Don's run up top.

He got dropped because he's young and still learning but ultimately because right now, AOC is a better player.

With Paudie at the back, Cooke and Watt in midfield, Wood at left back etc etc we were also heading to non league.

What's your point? Do you even have one?

Yeah, but you're not likely to understand it.

    You always choose not to.

But, here it is: we didn't need to replace the good players to improve our form. But we did need to replace those who weren't good enough. Do you see where Clayton fits in?

As great a sentiment that is, I’d like to think we’ve put farting around in the past and take every game seriously now.

There could be lads playing for new contracts / youth players in need of proper game experience which IMO would be a better way of picking a team if we are in a fortunate position of having wrapped up promotion by then.

A mid-second half sub appearance would be more fitting with a substitution just before the end for an applause.

Yeah, mainly as sub but one who can definitely contribute if and when needed.

Pretty sure my viewpoint has been pretty consistent throughout the thread.

I didn't intend any disrespect at all. Apologies if it seems the case. I was merely trying to reflect two sides of another tedious round-in-cicles 'discussion' that was distracting from the topic of the thread.

I have nothing against either player and think both have their part to play, but Clarke does really frustrate me. He should have far more influence than he does. I was about to say the good thing is he doesn't give the ball away, but then when I think back he does give it away a lot. He is fine picking the ball up from say Wood, but then more often than not he just passes it straight back to him. On the occasion when he does try to be more adventurous he ends up giving it away. For all that he is a steady hand but no longer 1st eleven for me.

They all give the ball away.

    Every single player.
