However I understand that players can get a very lucrative ‘Promotion Bonus’, which can be a sizeable sum.
Additionally even if their club releases them or doesn’t renew the contract, the fact that they have performed in a promotion winning team, means they are more likely to get offers from other clubs. -

I think sometimes it's the club that holds back when concerned about the increase in expenses (players wages for starters) should they be promoted especially if based in a small catchment area...
