I can tell you, she inflicts more pain than any football hooligan. No sympathy at all , the caring face of the NHS.

 

Seriously? Unless we are fielding a five a side goalie when needed team consisting of Threlkeld, Kelleher, Staunton, Scales and FCD, who in their right mind is going to decide not to go based on team selection?

 

So is Vadaine playing?

I can't get down today, but wonder if there's a mystery player in the squad?

FCD no where to be seen then claiming off side.

 

Early Observations :
Staunton is not a LB
FCD still in the habit of switching off at crosses
Chapman is quick
Young will surprise a few this year
Lewis good with his feet
Songo looking strong as CB
Platt has looked a bit shaky so far

Hughes is implementing a high press strategy. It seems the forward players have been trained adequately to deploy this

 

Mobility isn’t an attribute Smallwood has ever really had. It’s not his game to be chasing players down the wings.

 

He came back on looks ok

 

He was down but it was just a knock when his shot was blocked, nothing to worry about and carried out without any issues.
We’re just up against a better side at the end of the day but the full backs have done nothing to convince me either are good enough to be even back up full backs for us.

 

That's the thing, Derby are only a League One side because of off-the-field issues (obviously the massive point deduction).

Otherwise, their first XI last season was comfortably Championship-level, and the players fielded in the first half is a Championship-level team (albeit probably lower end).

That's not to say they'll piss League One, but we can't be pretending we should be on a par with a team like that.

Second half, if they make a ton of changes, we'll probably win.

 

Liking the keeper. Looks confident. Wants to take charge of his penalty area. Hughes needs to work out who his first choice defensive group is so they can get used to playing together.

 

Threlkeld and Kelleher on as subs. Scales having a decent game

 

He's not really quick enough to push the ball on and go past his man so he usually comes inside to keep possession.

 

Thought new keeper looked safe and sound, but that's about it from today..

 

Think that we all knew that FDC and Threlkeld are not really up to the job Kevin.
For me FCD leaves his winger far too open and doesn't get anywhere near him.
Any winger must love playing against the lad.
Threlkeld?? Enough said!!

 

There were literally no positives in the attacking side, we were clueless upfront. I accept it’s a friendly and merely a training exercise but not much to get enthusiastic about with that display.

 

Leggy is exactly right. I get that they aren't going to be going all guns blazing in a friendly but we looked second best fitness wise all over the park. Hopefully just a hangover from last week.

 

It was interesting to see FCD get a run at centre back in the second half. Looks a position much more suited to his strengths to me.

 

Remember us losing 6-0 to Crewe under Stapleton, in a pre-season friendly. We were top of the league by October.
