Sorry it’s late in adding thoughts - I lost both parents in less than 3 years ; Mum went in 6 weeks to a late cancer diagnosis and Dad took about 7 years from Vascular Dementia with no knowledge that his wife had died. Hard to know which one was worse - painful & quick or slow with no knowledge.

RCB - stay strong and hopefully there are good people around you - don’t close yourself away.

A choice between two evils...not a situation one would ever hope to face; it must have been a very difficult time for you and the rest of your family.

Indeed it is rather sad to note how many of us have had the experience of seeing a family member deteriorate and knowing that the condition is incurable, and maybe even untreatable. I'm sure that in time medicine will find ways to at least treat the various dementias, and turn more cancers into chronic but manageable conditions, but that's a small consolation for us here and now.

Thank you. It hurts, but time is bringing healing. Being able to get together with the band and record, and just play, as we did earlier this evening also helps.

Well, if a funeral can be described as 'nice,' or 'pleasing,' then yesterday's was. We gave Mum a good send-off; everything went well, the funeral home staff did their jobs to perfection, the pastor delivered a very fitting funeral oration in the chapel, I managed to give a competent reading of Psalm 23, the singer in my band (or am I the bassist in his band?) sang a lovely version of 'Jerusalem' at the graveside, and even the weather co-operated. It was the one sunny and warmish day we've had lately.

I expect Mum had a word in God's ear about that...and I'm sure St. Peter already has a much better system for the intake of new souls, and their dispatching upwards or downwards!

Back to being a recording engineer today, as we inch ever closer to finishing our debut CD. That leads me to what I really wanted to mention: two priceless gifts I received from Mum -- a love of reading, and a love of music. Both have enriched my life greatly.
