Has this feature been removed or did I just get a glitch?
There was no option to delete one of my posts earlier.

I don’t think it was ever setup to allow you to remove posts (simply because otherwise people throw a strop, delete all their posts and suddenly a good thread losses a lot of context as Now posts are missing. I believe even edits are onky active for 30mins after making them also so you can edit out typos but can’t months later do the same thing)

Wow that's a bit Draconian. So if someone posts on the forum, it's then owned BY the forum and the writer has no control over it?

That’s pretty standard with forums. A forum is the kind of place where people are prone to pulling a 'I’m taking my ball and going home' if a discussion doesn’t go the way they want and then you have forum threads which are meaningless. So most forums operate on a basis that you can’t self delete and they won’t delete a thread of requested but a mod/admin may edit a post if requested to remove anything which can be considered personal data

It’s also why forum software default terms of service always contain things like

I've noticed that one or two posters have deleted their own post shortly after having posted it. And in some case for very sensible reasons! It appears that there is a small window after posting when it can be self-deleted. But after that, as both KK and Simon say, a quick PM to a mod/admin should get it resolved.

That could well be it. It wasn't clear to me whether it was time limited eg say 15 mins, or some other action as you suggest.

    Looking at the settings

User can delete a post by self - no time limit or any other restraint

User cannot delete thread - so if you start a thread you will need to ask a mod or admin to remove it

You seem to currently be able to edit posts as far back as you want.

I’ve just edited one of the first posts on the forum

Its an option that we can set a time limit on post edits

Currently its left open so no edit restrictions

It maybe something we change to a subscription benefit

I doubt that would be allowed under European Law. European Court of Justice 2014 :
The law states that the writer of any content online reserves the right to edit or delete anything and everything ever posted (and all associated links to other websites) for as long as the data exists

Its called the right to be forgotten

And from what i understand as long as the forum or website removes the post when asked all is ok

The user doesnt need the ability to deleat the whole thread.. as long as the post and posts quoting the posts in question are removed all is good

You can currently do this now by either editing your post or asking a moderator to edit or remove a post

As long as its removed there should not be an issue

This is the way i interpret it

But it doesn’t state how that is achievable. Having the facility for you to contact an admin/mod to edit or delete it would be acceptable under the law.
