So young as well. My grandma had it and my Auntie has it but everyone I’ve know has been much older than he is. He is only 7 years older than me

Dreadful news. It is an awful disease. Just talking today about a member of our family who has it. She was a beautiful lovely woman, she doesn’t recognise anyone, and is violent at times.

To hear this about Dean, I hope he gets good care from his family and friends.

I’ve mentioned this before but I was actually quite relieved when my dad passed away.
To see your loved ones as just shells of the people that brought you up to be the person you are is heartbreaking and it is genuinely something I wouldn’t wish on anybody.

I understand this as my father passed in March and it was horrible to see him lose everything he was as a man. Unfortunately I have to deal with my mum now and hopefully she has a much more peaceful time.

Having seen this at close hand, it's a cruel disease and incredibly hard for the whole family.

Really feel for him and his family, it's no age.

My mum cared for him at home for 12 months (married 60 years) and it turned her in to a different person as well.

It's worsening for my mum too (though she denies it).

    Not good at all.

    Best wishes to Deano.

    Really sad to see this.
Sadly I think it's going to be just as common for his generation of players as it was for the ones playing in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I do worry that football isn't really taking the issue that seriously as it's been downplayed as these players played with a heavier ball when in reality that was only 1 small factor behind it.

It’s not actually dementia it’s stage 2 dementia which is rather confusing.

So sad to hear that Dave mum spent her last several years with that horrible disease, every time we visited he didn't know her sons without help from us.
