I think he's a salesman that will always attract a certain fan because he sounds like he has a plan. One of Rupps biggest criticisms that always comes up whenever an ownership question arises is that he doesn't seem to have a plan, some might want to see that. From the time he sells, he's going to have months of links to us just with his ties with his podcast and friendship with Ryan and his past comments.

But yeah i agree, seems to always have a limit at Peterborough and cant see why it would be any different here. His spell has to been seen as a success from taking a club that from fan base size, history, facilities should probably be a L2 team at the most, and has always flirted with the champ and been in it twice as well as the financial turnover. But with the amount he talks it up and the amount he spends, should it have been more successful? Probably.

Having said all this, if we were suddenly up for sale I'd take someone like Darragh who understands football than another non entity that takes six years to get his house in order.

Come on, are we seriously comparing the potential of Posh to that of Bradford City?
He got them to the Championship and still the crowds didn’t come. The fanbase simply isn’t there.
It’s like comparing Mansfield to Notts Forest.
With the right backing we’d have a very good chance of being a stable Championship club with full houses every week

I suspect some or all of that are the real reasons for his sudden sale. Will be interesting to see what happens, perhaps a bid for Barry Fry's services would be a good move.

I don't see anywhere in the post that compares Peterborough's potential at all. WW is simply saying DMac has reached the glass ceiling and finally realised it.

Evans had an affectionate passion for the club when he was job chasing. End of.

That you are right….It’s a sparsely populated area, massive, but many more pigs than people

Yes but the Championship was the ceiling for Posh. They couldn’t have gone any higher with them

Bournemouth ? They did it. Huddersfield did it. Swindon did it. All similar size clubs to Peterborough

I would rate our terrier friends and Swindon with far more potential than Posh will ever have

You need to go back and have a look how much money Bournemouth actually spent to reach the PL.

Their wages were astronomical and even spent £600,000 on Matt Ritchie 10 years ago in league one!

I’ll agree I don’t know how Bournemouth have achieved it. Every dog can have its day in the sun but I didn’t expect them to go back up once they got relegated.
Swindon though? That was 25 years ago.
Huddersfield were lucky to see the PL and even luckier to stay up but now they’re down they’ll go the way we did, to the basement where dogs live

Bournemouth have a billionaire Russian owner. You can run a tight ship and have success relative to that but eventually money makes the difference. The more of it the more of a difference you'll eventually make.

The catchment areas are smaller than Peterborough, but the populations are far lower in the surrounding districts USG?

Go outside the small conurbation of Peterborough there is nothing but fields as far as the eye can see.

The Bournemouth post code has almost 500k population including Poole which is like a suburb of Bournemouth. Poole has a population of 150k. The Bournemouth Poole Christchurch area is really densely populated and mostly within a20 min drive. I spend a lot of time down there these days and was really surprised. The fact is, even with the success they've had they haven't grown much as a club although a small ground doesn't help. You don't see many Bournemouth shirts down there either.

They also signed Fraser for 400K and Elphick & Grabban for 300K each that season they got Ritchie in L1.

Their rise was completely done by buying the leagues they were in. They took Kenwyne Jones on loan and paid all his £35K a week salary in the champ as well as £3m for Callum Wilson before the FFP rules became a real thing in the champ.

Helped create this yo-yo between clubs that can afford to buy the champ, but don't want to blow their cash completely to stay in the PL. Them, Fulham, Norwich, West Brom, probably add Burnley to that now who can spend 20M in the champ and hope that team can do well in the prem with a few signings. If you're lucky enough to go up with low budgets, you end up doing what Huddersfield did and Forest had to, and buy pretty much a new team.
