Cricket World Cup

Think the Sri Lanka shock has totally drained their confidence, from looking like an easy qualification it now looks like we might need other teams too do us a favour. Shame as we totally out classed Australia in ODIs in recent times but never showed up. Only saving grace is we play India at Edgebaston, usually a fortress for us. Considering how crap we always are at lords there’s probably no point in getting to the final anyway!

 

Watching NZ today I feel with Jason Roy back we will beat them which will be enough to scrape through....

 

Pakistan excellent in a great game today.

Squeaky bum time for England.
But at least it shows that NZ are beatable.

Whatever happens with England, this has been an excellent tournament so far.

Been working today so missed most of the game but what stands out to me is england only managed to take 5 wickets today, the other decent teams are more than capable of bowling teams out,even new zealand.
Went to school with a certain Steve Rhodes and will be more than chuffed if he coaches Bangladesh to a victory over Pakistan, but they look a form team now, nothing like the 4-0 friendly hammering they got from England.

True. Dot balls are crucial though. It was strange to see India not go for it more. Ordinarily you would see more wickets from false shots

 

Woakes was outstanding with the new ball.

Funniest i've read today has been Pakistani fans accusing India of poor gamesmanship and cheating by not going for the run chase thus giving England the advantage. Oh the irony.

 

I envisaged is winning all our games then losing in semi. To be fair all you have to do is finish in the top four then win the next two games

 

Some catch by Woakes. Plunkett undroppable now, surely.

 

Plunkett has a knack of taking wickets at important times

 

He's been in the team for the last 2 (very successful) years bowling the middle overs. They miscalculated how much they needed him in there to squeeze 2 spinners and 2 quicks in.

 

He is a very useful lower order batsman as well as can clear the ropes

 

Plunkett's form had faded badly in the bilateral series vs West Indies and Pakistan which I think made the decision easier for them. Back to his best last night and deserves his spot in the side.

 

Dominant display, rewarded with a semi final at fortress Edgebaston. Can’t wait.

 

Looking like aus v. nz and india v. eng semi finals,
starc and co. will probably destroy the fading kiwis and who knows about the other semi final,

i would pick india as slight favourites as both bat and ball are strong but have lost 2 good starters to injury and england cannot keep relying on bairstow and roy firing and buttler mis-firing.
england will likely go out on penalties.

 

Roots our top scorer?! So that’s 3 batsman we’re relying on. Let’s go by your flawed logic, India are relying on 2; Kohli and Sharma and Australia 2 as well in Warner and Smith. All teams rely on their star players, why make India favourites when we’ve beaten them at that ground once already and beat them last time they toured England? Very strange logic which makes no sense. Oh and we have 2 of the top 5 wicket takers in the competition, with Woakes and Plunkett not far behind, not bad at all I’d say.
