    So what's the deal here? I'm not a regular social media user and by no means am i privy to this forum's beginning, but it looks to me, reading between the lines, like a bunch of City fans have decided to form a kind of off-shoot to the main forum where they can get together and be rather nasty, to indulge in all kinds of online bullying and immature name-calling all in the name of being a more legitimate City fan.

    They have a very popular thread on there, I'm sure many will know, which is centred around calling out the 'thoroughly nice chaps' - that is to say, they scower the web for comments made by City fans that they don't agree with and then proceed to rip the piss out of whichever poor soul was unfortunate enough to express a different opinion to theirs.

    I think the vast tapestry of the football communities differing passions and ranges of knowledge on the game is an aspect lost on some of these cows arse character's, and it's sad to note that many on that forum are too eager to view their Bantam brethren as competitors rather than seeing a fellow fan as an ally.

    Some members have a particular distaste for the local author John Dewhirst, I have noticed, and seemingly will not let an opportunity to castigate him for what is viewed as an ostentatious display of being learned pass.

    I don't know what has gone on in the past to provoke the bad blood between the two sets of outlooks, and I suppose if anything, this thread is really just a nosey into that, if I'm being really honest.

    I've been reading Hunter S Thompson recently and there's a quote of his, intended for American football naturally, that I thought was very apt for this kind of situation..
    "Football fans share a universal language that cuts across many cultures and many personality types. A serious football fan is never alone. We are legion, and football is often the only thing we have in common."
    Now, I'd post that on the old bovine batty if I wasn't afraid of being shot down in flames for my 'gomperism'! Haha

    This site has too many happy clappers.

    Cows arsed called for and demanded better from the owners.. and first team.

    People on here didn't like it. And tried to shoot them down.

    Each to their own for me. As long as no one crosses any lines most of it is fair game imo.

    Oh and John Dewhirst is a belittling, to the point of bullying, sanctimonious arsehole. That's just my opinion though, everyone should feel free to form their own.

    They don't need to, as their user activity is so low they can use free programmes quite easily.

    That's because they have no costs however they
    • Have Ads
    • Sell your data (Which is worth a lot. Companies will pay on average $69 for verified, real people's email addresses when its in a niche they target. Admitted they have like 20 members but even if we assume that 50% of the users here can't be 'verified' as real and legit Karl could easily make $50k per company if he was to be underhand and sell just your email addresses)
    • You can only pay to give the forum Ad Free page views so you are paying for others to get ad-free (And someone paying $8 might get enough ad-free page views to last that forum about 20 years but with the page view amounts we get here someone would need to pay $80 every month to cover all page views so they didn't see ads themselves, that's nearly $1000 a year as opposed to each of you being able to get a year of ad-free for just £10)
    And with all that guess what, the forum get's no real benefit from that to help improve the forum. Proboards are the ones making money from the cows are admins' work and the user's contributions.

    Both them and the users would get much more value if they did self-host (with the size of their forum they could use free forum software and most likely use dirt cheap shared hosting as based on post frequency I doubt they are getting the traffic where sharing resources with other peoples sites is going to really be an issue) and then get the ad money for themselves and have ways for users to support the site
