The article says the best way to track deaths is via numbers from death certificates, which is already higher than the 28 day figure

I have little interest in narrative driven data. I just like to see the BBCs agenda questioned.

The BBC have come up with a good explanation of four different ways to count COVID deaths. The first three produce very similar figures, whilst the last method, age-adjusted excess deaths, produces a somewhat lower figure.

Djokovic is finally going. Can not believe that the government won the case with that argument rather than lied on the forms and didn’t follow isolation rules after his positive test but it just shows that it is more ticking all the boxes and following process than the actual reason.

Did anyone feel safe by having to flash their covid pass yesterday?

Did anyone bother with a mask, I can only speak about the kop where basically no one bothered.

Even the usual suspects can't put any sort of positive spin on covid pass day.

This graph rarely gets a showing anymore. Indy Sage and the like were posting this as much as possible leading up to Christmas and the new year. (I am aware the way in which people test has changed, but the number of people testing is still up at 10m per week)

    upload_2022-1-17_14-14-31.png

I notice they have switched to the hospital figures, but we know the latest data showed 45% of those were in with Covid not for Covid. So they switch to the deaths, but again when millions fall into a pool of 28 days following a positive tests then that is millions of people who are being swept up with the broom of Covid deaths. Even the BBC ran an article saying this doesn't reflect the deaths anymore and many others are changing their tune.

France where getting a coffee in a cafe means you need a covid pass, and where mask wearing is mandated outdoors in build up areas.

Italy where you need a covid pass to attend work.

Greece where they fine the over 60s for not being vaccinated.

Ireland where hospitality is being trashed and they have to shut at 8pm.

Australia, where they have kicked Djokovic out of the country.

Anyone supporting these daft restrictions at this stage needs to give their head a wobble.

This absolutely suggests that there's more going on in the numbers than just 'Covid passports don't make a difference'. No reasonable hypothesis would conclude that Covid passports and hostile policy are increasing Covid cases, therefore you can't also eliminate the conclusion that these measures aren't decreasing cases further than they would otherwise be.

It's not as simple as just pointing at two datasets and assuming that everything else is identical. I'm not saying that Covid passports are doing anything, but this isn't evidence in and of itself that they aren't.

Quite right @Dionysus@Dionysus, trying to draw such hypotheses out of such limited data would be ridiculed in scientific circles.

Using that data, I could point to the bit that shows the number of cases falling in Australia since Djokovitch was quarantined and then deported. Maybe I should suggest that its all Djokovitch's fault.

I think it is quite safe to suggest no matter what route you go down, cases are going to spread regardless.

He looks a broken man. I just caught this interview on the lunchtime news and if it was a boxing match the referee would have stopped it about 3 questions in.

He's made a right mess of that soundbite. He's obviously responding to Cummings claim that he specifically told Johnson that is was against the rules but that sentence makes it sound like he need everything explaining to him explicitly.....which might not actually be far of the mark in real terms!

I genuinely think it's funny that he's going to get screwed by "parties" he wasn't even attending but suppose that's why real leaders pay attention to details and culture.

Cummings ploy is to release a slow drip of information hoping Boris will react to it and say something that Cummings will then prove to be a lie when he releases his next "evidence".

Well it has been reported he is speaking to Sue Gray. No doubt the box he left Downing Street with has a whole host of evidence for the bunny boiler.
