Classic family walk today.

Went with MIL plus her friend, along with brother and sister in law.

MIL and friend needed the toilet so they went, after about twenty minutes of the walk. They neglected to tell anyone that they were then going into the house to take a look. So we all hung around for half an hour until they appeared again. At which point MIL thought she must have lost her phone, so we retrace our fairly limited number of steps.

I tried to allow a gentle passing of gas, which unfortunately came out stronger than I'd expected, while looking for the phone. Must have been audible to a couple walking their dog nearby, in the opinion of Mrs H. I'm laying the blame on the cauliflower and mushroom pakoras from last night .

After an hour, no luck on the phone. So we go home. Daughter full on grumpy at the turn of events. Turns out said phone was in MIL's lounge all the time...

Spent some of the weekend watching this lecture by the Institute of Advanced Study on black holes. Its fascinating. Proper scientist presenting but using fairly simple words. If you've an interest in space it's worth a watch.

The scale/proportions are just ridiculous. That black hole that the picture was taken of earlier in the year is like 10 times bigger than the distance that pluto orbits the Sun if you can get your head round that. Then at the same time they talk of being accurate to a millionth of an inch. Bonkers! Except astronomers don't measure stuff in inches cos that would be like me measuring an ant with a bus.
